Overall Satisfaction with GitLab
GitLab is used to host all of our codebase repositories. It addresses our need to collaborate and maintain a visual history of changes made to the codebase, while also enabling us to trigger website deployment through CI/CD integrations.
- Easy to use
- Similar functionality to other similar software - simple to adopt
- Excellent collaboration tool
- Useful notifications
- Better historic tracking for files
- In-browser editor could use some work
- Easier access to change repo and branch settings
- Reduced time required to isolate bugs
- Reduced deployment times due to CI/CD
- Increased ability to collaborate globally
GitLab was already in use when I joined my current company.
This has vastly helped us improve our production and deployment process. We currently have not integrated testing as part of the CI/CD but we hope to do so soon in order to reduce validation problems.
