Overall Satisfaction with Human Interest

We sought out Human Interest as a retirement plan provider after our previous plan provider ceased operations. Our employees log in to the system to select their investments and rate of savings, and the system communicates any changes back to the payroll portion of QuickBooks, which is a large time saver for me.

Pros

  • Easy site navigation
  • Fantastic onboarding team
  • Straightforward recommendations for investments

Cons

  • Their general support team has had some delays in response time.
  • They are still a start-up, and some of my questions needed to be forwarded to a specialist. They were always answered, but it seemed to be basic questions at times.
  • I would love for the a journal entry for the contributions and matches to be created in QB after each payroll. I am doing this manually right now.
  • They are not able to do Roth company contributions, which is disappointing for some of my employees.
  • Our previous plan was free, so we have seen an increase of fees.
  • However, Human Interest was among the most cost effective plans we found.
  • My team and HR department appreciates the employee portal, which minimizes time and effort.
  • It is difficult to tell how much is in a Roth account vs the Traditional account, as holdings are displayed together. The only way we've found to see this broken out is on the quarterly statement.
We originally paid for Concierge support, which took days and multiple follow-ups for straightforward questions. We eventually switched to the base level service plan and don't see a difference in service.
Pricing is straightforward.
Our onboarding was a long process due to challenges at the originating firm. The onboarding team and my rep specifically (Paula Principe) was fantastic throughout. She kept numerous balls in the air during the entire process to make sure we were getting the outcome we needed. We appreciate her and the team as a whole.
The web interface is extremely easy to use. I love that as an administrator, my same log in works whether I'm viewing my personal information or the company as a whole. The integration with QuickBooks was the biggest reason our firm chose Human Interest, and I am pleased with the functionality.

It would be helpful if users could see the breakdown between their Roth and Traditional holdings on the main portal page. We could only find it on the quarterly statement. Additionally, the quarterly statements come out much later after a quarter than our previous provider, which can make it challenging for our team to meet compliance and disclosure requirements.
  • Guideline
Guideline could not bring us on as our previous 401k was managed in-house.
