Overall Satisfaction with iMovie

We use iMovie across the entire Marketing department.
  • Quick edits to get raw video presentable fast.
  • Titles are simple to apply.
  • Editing out unwanted recordings is easy.
  • A dedicated YouTube compatible output format would be nice.
  • It is not intuitive to add music over the video.
  • The app itself is a bit of a resource hog.
  • Ubiquitous, runs on all platforms.
  • To the point above, we have both Microsoft and Apple users, and it seems to work well for both.
  • Cost structure is appropriate.
  • Good ROI, low initial output of cost.
  • As mentioned before, quick to use for a fast edit of data down to something that can be output.
  • Increased efficiency as our marketing folks can quickly integrate field-shot video into our web presentations.
  • Movie Maker Online (moviemakeronline.com)
Not as easy to use as iMovie, and a similar cost structure. iMovie is easier for Apple users / and MS users, to both get proficient at. Movie Maker isn't bad, it just isn't as slick as iMovie. We actually used MovieMaker for a couple of years before migrating most users over to iMovie. We have not regretted the move.

Do you think iMovie delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with iMovie's feature set?

Yes

Did iMovie live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of iMovie go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy iMovie again?

Yes

iMovie works great for quick edits of footage down to something presentable quickly. It is not as quick or intuitive if needing to produce higher-quality output. It can be done, just not quickly. By that I mean, it takes a fair bit of practice and learning to get to the point of comfort in doing fancier presentations.
