Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Kofax Power PDF is being used across the whole organization to distribute documents and drawings. It allows seamless document review by various users in Code Collaborator regardless of what application created a document or drawing. Review tools support PDF documents and Kofax PDF documents allow commenting, copying of text, and general markup for this purpose.
  • Maintains original document formatting.
  • Does well creating forms.
  • The OCR functionality works well.
  • Would like a way to customize ribbon menus.
  • Would like to be able to minimize ribbon.
  • With minimized ribbon, have it automatically expand when cursor hovers over it.
  • Cost savings.
  • Time savings.
  • Reduced training time.
I find Kofax Power PDF easy to learn and use. Also, in-app help is pretty good and what answers I can't find there I can usually find quickly on the Kofax Help for Power PDF website.

I started out at an advantage because I was an experienced Adobe Acrobat user before starting with Kofax Power PDF, but nevertheless, have been able to figure out Kofax Power PDF features just fine.
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC only allows reading PDF documents, so doesn't compare to Kofax Power PDF.

Kofax Power PDF stacks up well against Adobe Acrobat Pro, which I previously used, in ease of use, functionality, and especially cost effectiveness.

I don't like the monthly/annual subscription model that Adobe has adopted. I do like purchasing applications outright like Kofax Power PDF.
I've been quite satisfied with the product in general to start with.

While I haven't had any serious customer service issues with Kofax Power PDF, I have been able to get simple questions answered quickly via e-mail.

Mostly I've been able to get answers to my questions answered through the Kofax Help for Power PDF website.

1. Converting PDFs to recognizable text so that they can be altered or the text copied.
2. Converting existing PDFs to fillable forms. Plus adding validation to form fields. This may include JavaScript which might activate/deactivate fields depending on check boxes or radio buttons.
3. Adherence to the PDF standard so that PDF markup tools work with the documents.
1. Sharing documents or drawings where content needs to be protected from alteration. I like the ability to secure document content.
2. I like the portability of the PDF format and the relatively low cost and high functionality Kofax provides vs. Adobe.
3. Creating forms, especially with the ability to validate input and run JavaScript.
