Overall Satisfaction with Linode
Linode is being used as the supporting multiplayer platform for a mobile card game.
- Flexible and easy to use
- Extremely reliable
- Performance to meet our needs
- Very good price
- Networking could be more feature-full (allow for segregation, routers, subnets, etc.)
- Would be nice for DNS to have geo-location and proximity resolution features
- Would be nice to have some kind of shared filesystem (as a service) between Linodes (e.g., NFS)
- Minimal cost for a great benefit (constantly handling >100 simultaneous players for $10 a month)
- Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and DigitalOcean Droplets
AWS is more expensive (even if more feature-full, but including features that I don't value). Digital Ocean is on par, both feature and price-wise. I have been using Linode for longer without any problems, so haven't even considered changing.
No problems, no issues, great price.
Even though it is, in fact, important, my application can stand a few minutes of occasional downtime. Still, Linode has exceeded my expectation in availability. Also of note is that when they needed planned downtime, I was informed with more than enough time in advance, and in most situations it was possible for me to select the window in which said downtime would occur. Absolutely great!
