Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Used for web, email, voice and video communications, and collaboration for all: Apache, postfix, dovecot, mumble, matrix, jitsi, Nextcloud.

Pros

  • Allows for me to do what I want do, how I want to.
  • For the lazy, there are very good one button servers for many common needs.
  • Quite good customer service.

Cons

  • Website still meh at best.
  • Officially support Oracle, Red Hat, and SuSE Enterprise.
  • Cheap and easy to deploy, so testing servers are a snap. Leading to a quicker/shorter beta period. Ultimately production servers are faster and easier for my organization and my customers thanks to this fact.
Linode is cheaper, more reliable, and easier than the others. Customer service is of better quality as well.
No reason to downgrade. All interactions have been textbook great. Even very complicated questions.
I have zero experience with their managed hosting. But everything else works great. Rock solid and reliable. My only complaints are no Red Hat (or other Enterprise Linuxes). I am forced to upload a preconfigured VM.
