Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Litmos is used as a primary learning management system to provide online learning to team members. This includes all support functions, operations and sales teams. The content is primarily safety and compliance training but over time we have also increased on-demand personal development content. With onboarding occurring often it's important that some content be available on-demand and easily accessible via computer or phone. Further, we need to have compliance for annual training requirements and Litmos offers that as well.

Pros and Cons

Easy to copy, mirror or link courses depending on how the content should be connected between different use cases.
Content authoring tool allows for nice content without too much trouble.
Support success team is accessible and supportive.

Account manager turnover creates trouble establishing strong and supportive relationships. The account managers are not technical support either.
Technologically not intuitive. It takes months of time and practice to effectively administer content.
No way to present material classroom style for larger training sessions.

Alternatives Considered

Alchemy

Litmos is better for working professionals (i.e. sales and support functions). Alchemy is far better for operations. Litmos is the current platform and switching will be very tricky but ultimately the solution will not work across the entire business.

Usability

The system has many challenges for those who are not technically advanced. For example, if a course is in a learning path it will not populate as a to do item and many team members cannot complete compliance training. To administer the system, the admin must often manually change reports to visuals and most work has to be done by the admin since the system is so hard to use for most of the HR/training teams.

Implementation Rating

Was not involved in implementation. Reviewing past the implementation was tough, 10 years later we are still dealing with set-up issues that prevent effective usage.

Litmos is great for sales team members and people who use computers often. Litmos is not good for manufacturing team members who do not use computers often or have easy access to emails. The platform offers good content authoring but getting used to the system can take a great amount of time. If a resource is not fully dedicated it is hard to be successful. Reporting is very old and there are no easy view access charts that can help provide support for reviewing content and completions.
