Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Database 12c

We use Ellucian Banner for the college. The backend is an Oracle database. We are currently on 11.2.0.4 and are planning to upgrade to 12.2.0.1. I also have some databases on 12.1.0.2.
  • Easy to manage and maintain.
  • Backup and cloning to development instances are easy.
  • Restoring a full database or a particular table is easy.
  • Performance was better compared to 11gR2.
  • Oracle LOBs is still an issue.
  • Function-based indexes are still a problem
  • Query optimization needs improvement.
  • We have a positive impact on the college.
Higher education is well suited for Oracle Database 12c. We also recommend 12c to the HR and Financial Aid departments within our college.
