All in on HRIS system.
Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
Paylocity is our primary HRIS system. We use the announcement feature to keep our employees up-to-date on upcoming events or changes we've made. Employees are also able to communicate with each other using the community feature, it's like having our own private Facebook group. Being in the HealthCare industry we have a lot of information that we must keep on file and keep up-to-date to remain compliant and Paylocity makes this easy by importing templates of information to all our new hires and then being able to track everything in the skills section. System is super easy to use, if you do have any trouble or have questions, the customer service team is easy reach, never have a long wait and you can always understand what they're saying.
Pros
- Community Section - This is the best way to communicate with our employees on changes or upcoming events.
- Skills - Without the ability to track our employees compliance items we would be in big trouble, couldn't imagine another way than using this skills function.
- Self-Service Portal - There are so many ways to customize your employees Self-Service portal. Our employees always have access to the most up to date handbook we have, if there are any changes we post an announcement in the community section. We have our local community resources uploaded so if any of the employees need some extra help it's there for them. We even have all our benefits listed so employees know what we have to offer at all times. Plus they of course have access to the standard information like their pay stub, time off, etc.
Cons
- I wish there was a way to customize the categories in the skills section to better fit our industry. We make the categories we currently have work, but it would be amazing to actually customize them. For example, it would be nice to have a "Medical" option to hold all our employee's immunization records.
- The workflows section has been a lifesaver, but there are still some areas that have glitches that need to be improved on. For example, if you launch a workflow that isn't completed within the timeframe set, it goes overdue, and if it's still not completed, it'll actually go into the completed section, and the only way to find it is to look at the actual workflow, if you have the ability to rescind the workflow, then you automatically know that the workflow is incomplete.
- Community - It would be nice if comments were added to a post; everyone within the group who received the original announcement would also receive notifications that a comment was made. It would make it easier to communicate back and forth as well as keep the rest of the group up to date on any questions that were answered that someone else may have been thinking of but didn't ask.
- More consistent and streamlined processes.
- Helps protect our licenses by ensuring employees are compliant.
- Give us an excellent view of our employee turnover rate. Not that it's good, but it's easy to see.
N/A - Our payroll, scheduling, and time tracking are completed in the actual HealthCare system (The same system we chart our patient visits). The workflows have helped streamline our compliance process, and the ability to auto-assign training courses to our new hires helps ensure they are getting the training they need right from the start, and you do not have to rely on someone forgetting to assign the training.
The employee engagement tools have been helpful in opening up communication. The surveys can be customized, or they have an excellent library to choose from. Community, I've hit on a few times; it's an excellent resource to ensure employees are up-to-date on events coming up or changes to company policies.
I've used Kronos and Paychex, and so far, Paylocity has been the best system I've worked on.

Paylocity Feature Ratings
Using Paylocity
200 - All our employees use Paylocity in some fashion. Our employees primarily use it to view their paystubs or submit PTO. Employees have the ability to also find our company documents in the Self-Service Portal. Managers/Supervisors use the system to keep track of when reviews are due as well as completed change of status forms. Directors use the system to gather data from the Data Insights section.
- Skills - Keeps us compliant.
- Community - Open communication and keeps employees up to date on changes.
- ACA Compliance Center - It would be a disaster without the help of Paylocity's ACA dashboard.
- Payroll
- Self-Service Portal - All our important information in one place.
- Skills - We're not using it the way it was meant, but it works for us. We use this to track driver's licenses that are about to expire or car insurance that's expiring. Also, use it to ensure our yearly training is launched and annual screenings are complete.
- Workflows help ensure our employees are getting notifications of items about to expire and give them the ability to upload documents from their phones directly into Paylocity.
