Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Planview was evaluated and selected for a client of ours to manage and drive the enterprise project management office (ePMO). It was implemented across all departments in the organization and served as the basis for approving, funding, and tracking all of the projects tied to their strategic plan. It was used as the golden source for all reporting as well.

Support Rating

When needed support was excellent. But in my experience, you won't require much hand-holding or support to get the most out of Planview. The product is robust and very well designed. If you need help you won't be disappointed.

Usability

This is where I really liked working with the product. As someone used to managing projects, programs and a PMO for 20 years I can easily do what I need with Planview. Clearly, they have a lot of practical implementation experience and it shows in the flow and usability of the tool.

Alternatives Considered

Workfront

Both were excellent but Planview has a more complete product line that you can grow with. The difference came down to determining if there was anything that we weren't going to be able to utilize with each and we just had such a positive response internally to the features of Planview. Workfront may have an edge for digital assess management for creative agencies but that was not our vertical.

Likelihood to Recommend

Portfolio management and strategic planning are some of the areas where we find Planview to be ahead of the competition. It truly has all of the bases covered thus reducing the need to turn to other products to fill in the gaps. The inclusive and balanced approach of the product suit makes getting onboard in small incremental steps very easy and manageable.
