Overall Satisfaction with Renaissance Accelerated Reader

Our District uses Renaissance Accelerated Reader to encourage and promote reading with our students. We want our students to be reading a book of their choice for at least 15 minutes or more every day.
  • The game like scoring provides immediate feedback in a positive way.
  • I personally love the words read in the report. I use it to encourage students to continue reading to see how many words they can read.
  • The goal setting feature is easy to use.
  • I do not have improvement needs at this time.
  • Words Read report.
  • Goal Setting for each student.
  • Bilingual/Spanish book tests.
  • Game type report for students.
  • My students are reading so much more. We have made a class goal and I chart our progress. Other students are even committing to how much we are reading. No student is 'in trouble for not meeting their goal. We encourage all words read without negative comments.

I have quite a large classroom library that is all labeled with Renaissance Accelerated Reader levels. The students have access to a variety of levels to pick from. I do not think students would be as interested in Renaissance Accelerated Reader as they are, without a lot of books to read immediately. If students have to wait to exchange books in the school library or local library, too much time will pass by and they will become disinterested.
