Overall Satisfaction with Renaissance Star Assessments
We use the Star Assessments as a placement tool to help decide which levels of Math students should be placed into. We also use it to measure learning lost over the summer and then growth throughout the year. The data is also used to work with Freckle and suggest adaptive pathways for each student based on their strengths and weaknesses.

Renaissance Star Math Assessment provided a proven data collection tool. This was also being used at the lower grades in our district, so it made sense to continue with its use to provide a more reliable and accurate picture of our students entering the middle school. The continuation of the data trail should continue to help their overall growth.

Using Renaissance Star Assessments
50 - Teachers
We have limited staff in house with in depth knowledge of the Star Assessments and how they work. Most support is with the reports but other support comes in the form of what we learn from trial and error. We also use the online resources as a place to get questions answered or see how we can better use the material.
- Data
- Student Progress
- Individual learning pathways
- Compare to state assessments
- Confirm Math level placements
- Confirmation of possible learning disabilities
- Still exploring as we become familiar with it
Evaluating Renaissance Star Assessments and Competitors
- Prior Experience with the Product
Our lower grade schools used this product so it made sense to continue it into the middle school to have a more uniform data collection on our students.
I was not involved in the evaluation and selection process since decisions were made at the lower grade levels.
