I use Sage Accounting for general accounting.
Bank Reconcilation, that are downloaded or imported directly from the bank.
VAT returns, and the submissions to HMRC.
Ensuring Purchase invoices are recorded and paid.
Creating P&L for each department and the company as a whole.
Analysis of sales, via departments, Nominal analysis to understand trends.

- For £28 a month, run our entire accounting system, the childcare system, which is just a billing / sales ledger system charges £900.00 a month. Sage Accounting is great value for money.
Used both Sage Accounting 50 and Sage 200, both equally as effective. Find Xero, childish, they have tabs who you owe money to. I think it's really designed for those with little or no accounting knowledge.
