Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

Through use of the API and other vendors with API capable products, there is a great capability in integrated with our system and data. As with any API however, it does require someone with strong IT/programming background to be able to understand and use these capabilities as those types of software access are beyond a normal finance person's abilities.
It is being used by our whole organization to varying degrees. The finance and accounting team use it as the main system of record for US accounting. We also consolidate non-US operations, although those are not currently transacting directly in the system due to limited international capabilities. The rest of the company uses Intacct to enter timesheets for daily activities.

Pros

  • Customer Service - we have had great experience with our customer success manager, as well as product managers and executives listening to our software feedback
  • Consolidations - quick and easy to use
  • Purchasing approvals and workflows

Cons

  • International transaction capabilities - limited VAT/statutory compliance capabilities result in inability to transact directly in the software in many foreign jurisdictions
  • Volume of transactions - whether it is processing timesheets or large reports, large amounts of data have on occasion take awhile or result in error messages
  • Personalization - there are many areas of the system where we wish the user experience was more customizable, such as timesheets and the look and performance of them
  • Positive impact on closing timelines
  • Positive impact on reporting capabilities
  • Positve ROI as we feel we get good value for the cost of the system
General ledger is somewhat automated, although we still have to do plenty of adjustments. Our accounts payable process is very streamlined and almost completely paperless, but part of this is because we use another vendor system called Stampli which ties into Intacct and allows us to manage our payments much easier. A/R is automated for hourly billing, but we still do manual invoices for more complex invoicing.
We use multi-entity and global consolidations which are very nice for a global company. Project accounting is also used and does have good capabilities, however, we are disappointed in some of the controls/security restrictions in the project area, there is limited ability to restrict who has access to view various projects and timesheets.
It is well suited for large organizations, professional service organizations, and global companies who are OK with not transacting directly in the system. As mentioned previously there are international limitations and although there is a lot being invested in this area, it is currently lacking in many key areas of statutory compliance internationally.
