Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is used by the accounting department. We used to have employees submit expense reports directly in Sage Intacct before we transitioned to Expensify (less expensive per user plus availability of a mobile app).
We have five entities, three currencies.
Some of the main problems it addresses are:
- consolidation
- integration with Salesforce
- automatic revenue recognition
- great report writing tool
- multi-user environment with various permission levels
- ease of use multiple entities and multiple currencies
- various dimensions
- ability to store supporting documents directly in the system as attachments

- Revenue recognition - with various revenue rec templates rev rec can be automated, in some cases - 100% automated.
- Saleforce integration - it streamlines the "from opportunity to invoice" workflow, we're now able to invoice customers as soon as a contract is signed.
- Custom reports - very helpful in tracking various data and metrics
- AP Bill Approval - requiring that all lines of a bill to belong to the same department is very inconvenient and limited. Also there is no much flexibility in setting up approvers (great if it could be done by role, not by user).
- Consolidation - when drilling consolidated reports it would be nice to go down to original entries in original currencies.
- Attachments - it would be great if attachments could be tied up to each line of say AP bill or expense report; make them more visual.
- Positive - Cloud-based - it makes it easy to hire remote employees from anywhere. No worries about backups.
- Positive - Dashboards help us to be more efficient and organized.
- Positive - Order Entry module combined with Salesforce integration helps us to accelerate billing processes.
We benefited from revenue recognition automation; financial report scheduling; expense report submission by employees directly into the system (instead of manual keying in of data by the accounting team); automated dimension allocations; setting up recurring transactions; invoicing of billable
expenses.
expenses.
Out of above we use these modules: multi-entity & global consolidations, project accounting, and time and expense management.
We used to have spreadsheets to consolidate five entities with three currencies; the process could take up to 3 days. With the Global Consolidation module, it now takes just a few seconds to click one button and you are done!
We didn't have project accounting before Sage Intacct. So tracking expenses by project added a visibility to our revenue and expenses that tremendously helps us with decision making in regards to projects and events we run.
Before switching to Sage Intacct, the accounting team entered all expense reports on behalf of employees. In Sage Intacct this task is of responsibility of employees. They enter and submit their expenses by themselves, eliminating data entry for accounting team completely.

QuickBooks Online and NetSuite were also evaluated. Sage Intacct stacks up against:
- QuickBooks Online due to its multi-entity and multi-user environment with ability of automatic consolidation,
- NetSuite due to lower costs of Sage Intacct (at least 6 years ago). Also we found that Sage Intacct was more intuitive and user friendly than Netsuite.
