Overall Satisfaction with Sentry

Sentry monitors our production website for javascript errors. It is really easy to install and hasn’t slowed anything down, which is a really nice feature. We have also identified some critical bugs caught by Sentry on our production e-commerce site. This means money back in our pockets, with faster page load times and a better customer experience.

Pros

  • Easy install.
  • Issues alerting.
  • An easy to use interface.
  • It doesn’t slow down our site.

Cons

  • It needs easier to find GTM Install Instructions.
  • The first notice of an issue more than paid for it for the month.
  • However, it's not as useful if you aren’t doing active development.
Sentry was cheaper and lighter weight/easier to deal with. New Relic always felt like it was slowing the site down some. I don’t think either has had any major negative impact, but Sentry always seemed better/faster. Also, Sentry doesn’t have contracts like New Relic does (typically 1 year).
Sentry works well on our production e-commerce site. If we have a bug slowing things down, it’s great to get an alert from Sentry so that we can fix it quickly. It might not be as helpful or matter as much for an internal site or web apps. However, you might as well use it for the price
