Overall Satisfaction with Submittable

We use Submittable to gather and review grant applications. It allows us to have a secure platform to communicate with applicants, send documents, and we can easily search applications using many different criteria.

Pros

  • We can receive documents from applicants in a secure way without having them be downloaded to our computers.
  • Submittable emails you directly when someone emails through the platform which is extremely helpful.
  • Submittable allows us to have many different forms on file to easily send.

Cons

  • It would be nice if you could send an email through the platform and attached a certain application to an email not listed on the application.
  • I wish you could change the search within applications rather than just by the applicant's name.
  • I wish you could have different file folders where you could put applications to separate them after they are complete.
  • It has saved us so much time because applications can be easily reviewed.
  • It has allowed us to monitor applicants - making sure replies are done in a prompt manner.
  • Occasionally emails with attachments are lost in the system which can increase the number of email communications.
It does not take long for most employees to learn how to do submittable and it can be easily adjusted at any time to fit any need.
It has allowed us to have more timely communications because we can send out emails quickly and easily. Also, it notifies us when communication occurs so they are not missed.
Submittable is more secure and the data is easier to track and find.

I think that Submittable is a great platform for non-profits who need to gather a lot of information from their applicants. It is secure, easy to use, and provides a barrier between applicants and staff.

Using Submittable

6 - Submittable helps us process applications for financial assistance. It also helps us review the applications and a team. Lastly, Submittable gathers banking information in a secure way so we can quickly pay our grantees and not have to have them email us or give us bank information over the phone.
2 - We do not have anyone formally to support Submittable in-house. Honestly, we run into very few problems with it. However, we do have two teammates who answer applicants questions regarding Submittable. Most of it is questions regarding questions and not the website itself.

Submittable is very user friendly and very helpful.

Evaluating Submittable and Competitors

Yes - Submittable replaced Monday.com. We replaced Monday.com because we were using it in a way that it was not supposed to be used. We wanted a website/platform where all the steps of an application were in one place.

The most important factor was ease of use. We wanted a website that was easy for applicants to use, but also easy for us to edit. Additionally, with Submittable we are able to look at statistics and timeframes which was important to us.
I would not change my evaluation process. We choose a website that is highly suited to our needs.

Submittable Implementation

The key insight I have is to shut down your application for a brief period to finish processing on one platform before you completely go to Submittable. This will make the transition less chaotic.

Change management was minimal - We did have to change management slightly during the implementation, but because Submittable needed less management than our previous platform, it was easy.

Yes, the product was super easy to learn without training. I would recommend this method if you are someone who picks up on intuitive technology easily. I was proficient in it in less than a day.

Configuring Submittable

I think it is configurable, but you do need to go through a special process to get it how you want.
I wish that you could choose what you look up in the search bar.

Submittable Support

I think that they are good at answering our questions and solving our problems. We occasionally get reports from applicants about problems the Submittable team has not solved, but I do not know what the applicant has done to get the problem solved.

Yes, we were having trouble logging into our account. Submittable was able to help us that day and fix our problems so we did not get behind in our work!

Submittable Reliability

We have been easily able to grow. Not only are we able to process different applications, but Submittable makes it easy to add applications onto our plan. Additionally, their eligibility form before the application does a good job of screening applicants so we do not pay for extra applications.
Customer service is always prompt and professional.
I do not use the report function super frequently, but when I do the reports are quick and easy to use.

Integrating Submittable

  • We have added a submittable button to our website.
It was not difficult to do.

Relationship with Submittable

The Submittable team has been very good to work with and they quickly answer questions.
They have answered all of our technical questions promptly.
They are very good, but I wish we could have a little bit more customization without high costs.
We were able to negotiate price a bit because we are a non-profit.
I wish we could choose our own number of applications we want for the year and have the price be changed because we are in-between buyable numbers and always have to add more applications at the end of the year.
No tips, they were very good.
