Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO BusinessWorks
BW is used by our mobile company (BASE) as middleware. The IT enabling layer or service enablement layer built on BW hosts services that help to integrate channels with backend systems. It addresses the issue of point to point integration and promotes reusability based on SOA principles.
- Ease of process design
- Ease of runtime parameters configuration
- Ease of operational manageability
- The quality of TIBCO support has deteriorated in the last few years
- Huge differences between 5.x and 6.x
- Slower cycle of incorporating changes and bug fixes
- Ease of process design implies lesser investment on resources
- Stability with AMX Service Grid was a huge issue to keep business continuity, most of the SRs remained unresolved and led to delays
- New licencing model requires huge OPEX cost
Process of developing business flows in TIBCO BW is extremely efficient. The drag and drop and easy input output configuration enables quick setup. Ease of debugging and design time test run with local parameters help in lesser issues in higher environments.
Excellent, best I have seen so far. Ease of using XSLT and custom functions give an additional edge for transformations on mappers.
Testing as well as debugging is quite simple on BW as compared to other products. Best part is to be able to validate a part of/complete flow in design time with breakpoints in between.
Have used Oracle, JBOSS products, however I would not like to comment as each product has its own pros and cons. Also note that cost is a major driver for the success of a product.
