Overall Satisfaction with Ubiquiti Networks UniFi

We use Ubiquiti for two main areas:
  • Networking in our branch offices
  • Networking for our hosted servers
In our branch offices Ubiquiti permits a central management for our network equipment (router/firewalls, switches, wireless access points), while for our servers Ubiquiti permits to have a good 10Gbps managed network connectivity and in mean time containing costs for the equipments.
  • Network Management with Ubiquiti Software
  • Best value for money.
  • Ease of management
  • Some configurations can be made only from the command line
  • Some access point models don't work without a controller
  • Easy to set up, online in minutes
Quality has a cost, it's true ... But in some cases it's unjustified. There are many "famous" brands of switches and network equipment, often with exorbitant costs. Ubiquiti has an honest cost and respectable performance. Few frills, probably a bit immature software than the competitors but for most uses, it is more than enough.

I would recommend Ubiquiti in scenarios where costs are important because they are less expensive network devices than other brands. This does not mean giving up quality, all the Ubiquiti devices I have dealt with have proved to be very good, and with excellent performance.

Small server farms and branch offices are the most appropriate scenarios in my opinion. If, on the other hand, you are looking for more complex solutions, with higher scalability, it is better to focus on other brands.
