Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using UKG Pro across our whole organization. Previously our Human Resources information was still kept via paper records. UKG Pro has allowed us to manage everything electronically from any location.

Pros and Cons

Payroll and tax filing services - the payroll gateway is easy to use and allows payroll to be completely seamlessly and easily. Additionally we have not had any issues with any of our tax filing accounts which was a major issue we experienced with a provider prior to changing to UKG Pro.
Reporting - there is robust reporting capability which is helpful to be able to create a report to meet any need.
Core product - the core employee and HR information is laid out in a way that is user friendly and easy to navigate.

Recruiting - we have been disappointed with some lack of functionality within recruiting, particularly related to conditional questions which is a huge need for us.
Talent management - could be tied into the core product better with better reporting and workflows that better match how other parts of the system work.
Onboarding - we have a large group of seasonal employees which frequently involves a lot of rehires. The onboarding system does not manage rehires well.

Return on Investment

It has provided the ability to manage all HR activities in one platform.
It has increased efficiency of the HR department, saving costs.
It has provided employees and managers better visibility of important employment information.

Alternatives Considered

We did not utilize any other HCMs prior to UKG Pro.

Performance

My experience has been that the system's performance functions great - pages load quickly, reports are completed quickly, etc. We do not have experience with integrating UKG pro with other software or systems but everything we use it for works well.

Support Rating

As a new customer it took a while to understand the support structure, but my experience of support has definitely improved. Sometimes we can incredibly quick responses to support needs and other times it's slower. Not knowing if a particular support need will receive a fast or slow response can be challenging when you are trying to troubleshoot something, but overall, I would say that the support is great. Any person I have ever talked to on the phone for a support need is fabulous - friendly, patient, helpful, doesn't end the call until the need is resolved. I have never once gotten off of a support call and had any sort of negative feelings.

Exceptional Examples of UKG Pro Support

Unfortunately our company had a large reduction in force last year due to the economic impacts of the pandemic, like many others. I was suddenly an HR team of 1 and had a bulk hire of seasonal camp counselors. It was our first summer since implementing UKG Pro so the first time that I was learning how to best set up these employees in the system, while being down team members. I called UKG support to get some assistance with one area I needed help troubleshooting, and I remember the representative going above and beyond in helping me to get the task completed. He recognized that I had a lot on my plate and took the time to take a few extra minutes to help make things a little easier for me. I was really appreciative.

Likelihood to Recommend

It has great functions and features, and although there is a lot of room for customization, some areas of the product aren't as customizable as I would like. For a mid size company the cost may not be worth it. I could definitely understand how it's helpful for larger companies.
