Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We utilize Veeam Backup and Replication version 12 in our organization. We also use Veeam Azure Backup and Recovery. We backup our on premises servers to an onsite storage appliance and Azure cloud. We backup our Azure servers to the Azure cloud. We are planning on purchasing Veeam O365 backup soon.
- Unified backup solution using one console.
- Many different restore options.
- Many different backup options.
- Console takes some getting used to.
- SOBR is somewhat complex to set up.
- Backups take a fair bit of time, but this might be expected.
- Virtualized workloads
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)

We backup a mix of cloud and virtual servers in our organization. We do not have any physical servers, so this was expected when we acquired Veeam Data Platform.

Veeam Data Platform was already in place when I came to work here. I had to learn to use it, which was not too steep a learning curve.
I setup immutable Azure blob storage. Prior to that we only had onsite backups. It has been working very well for us.
We backup our file shares using the file share backup. No need to backup the whole file server, this allows us to be more granular in what we choose to backup.
Veeam Data Platform is more user friendly and has more options for backups and restores than Barracuda in my experience.
