Overall Satisfaction with Turbonomic, an IBM Company

The virtual administrators use VMTurbo to monitor the VMware infrastructure and to trim the fat off the vms that do not use the originally provisioned resources. They do the trimming by a weekly automated task. To me that's super easy. Who can go wrong with a set it and forget it system? Well one that accurately completes the task.
  • Light weight
  • Quick to gather needed data
  • Easy to gather data from custom reports
  • Easy to read the data presented
  • UI looks. And I am being really picky. Foglight has them on this.
  • Pro active support. Not a very common statement. You can address the problem with a vm before the VM becomes an issue for the end user.
  • VM fat trimming
  • The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. That combination seems to be dying in this field. And they are from the East coast. Just a joke. Don't hurt me East coasters.
VmTurbo and Foglight are close in my book. Veeam well they own for Backups. vCOPS, you pay for what you get...
If you want shiny looks, over bloated reporting vms, quick data collections and a vm trimming process that actually works well on schedule, don't get this. Please use vCOPS. You pay for what you'll get.

Using Turbonomic, an IBM Company

Foglight has the same looks, ease, automation, as VMTurbo but they seem just a bit more pricey. Very close between the two.

Turbonomic Implementation

It's not hard. Entry level for initial setup. The more advanced you go, like anything, it needs a tweaking or a pro like myself. You can contact me to help =)
  • Implemented in-house
Seriously, no vendor is needed to implement it unless it myself!
Yes - Well some data needs to be collected. But you can, half @## implement it in one shot. Maybe some schedule tweaking with the automation. But I can help if you need!
Change management was minimal
  • It does it with so little in comparison to other products. That's not an issue. It is just what is usually noticed.

  • The whole product is self explanatory. Just delete that needless PDf you downloaded
  • Nothing. I am trying to think of something. I just can't.
Foglight might have the edge on this. It's per user I guess.
