AuthPoint - A great addition to the WatchGuard ecosystem
Score 9 out of 10
Vetted Review
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
We use it for 2-factor authentication for our internal tools (i.e. Microsoft 365, IT Glue, etc.). We prefer it over the Google Authenticator due to AuthPoint's ability to be centrally managed (blocking users, revoking keys, re-sending deployment emails). For our clients, it's main use is with Office 365 2-factor authentication and authenticating VPN connections.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Fast to set up
- Simple licensing model
- Professional look and feel of the application
Cons
- More SAML integrations would be awesome
- The ability to have the app offer to auto-fill 2 factor codes on mobile
- Windows Store-based app
- Clients feel more secure when using AuthPoint.
- Saves clients money by preventing stolen info.
- Saves clients money by preventing paying their MSP to resolve security situations.
Honestly, other than free options and considering our investment in the WatchGuard product sphere, we were drawn to AuthPoint because of its integration with our existing WatchGuard tools. It's simple to manage and cost-effective, so we haven't had a reason to consider any other alternative. It works exactly the way we want it to!
I can't imagine a scenario where AuthPoint would require hardware on-site. If this was a hardware-based deployment, it would cost us and our clients hours of time and resources to deploy and maintain. Having it in the cloud makes maintenance a non-issue, and it being in the cloud means we can deploy this solution anywhere in the world.
