Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint as MFA for logging into our AD server, file server, and remote work/VPN. This adds another layer of security for logins so we know that the user is at their computer. It also allows us to prevent unauthorized use if a laptop is stolen or accessed by someone who should not be doing so.
  • Security for logins
  • MFA
  • Administration of the system takes very little time to add/change/delete
  • The installation was difficult. Step-by-step instructions were old and did not work. I needed to get on with the support rep to get it installed.
  • I wish they had more case studies and reviews about using the hardware tokens instead of mobile phone apps. We would not have bought any tokens because they didn't suit our mission. All but a few are sitting on the shelf unused.
  • Wish we didn't have to connect to the cloud to do this. It seems like a security flaw in the making. I have to stress that nothing has happened yet, I'm just not thrilled about the chance it has for issues to come up.
  • It has given us a stronger sense of security, which is worth a different amount of money to any given company.
  • Cost was not too bad for what it does. Seems properly priced.
  • Allows our techs to set it once and forget it. I have other things to do rather than run this stuff.
We went straight to this product because we've run Watchguard firewalls for over 10 years and have been happy. A cursory check on google didn't bring up much other than Cisco products. There are far too many of those and we'd need a degree in this to figure out what we needed. WatchGuard AuthPoint worked with Watchguard AuthPoint and came from our trusted vendor.
Benefited yes, because we just log into the system and administer it. That access still makes me nervous because of basic hacking. Someone will be able to get into it and mess with our systems, and that's just the nature of cloud work. I hope the pendulum swings back soon to make it feel more secure.
Nobody complained. They all have this feature in their banks and healthcare systems so it wasn't new. The app was installed correctly the first time and no one has needed any tech support to use it. They do complain a bit about how it doesn't always seem to be timed right. You can get the alert and not hit Accept, then get another alert and hit Accept in time and it will still tell you it timed out. Then they have to try connecting again. Secure, but annoying.
They're able to run it correctly most of the time. They like using the same password and we like it that when the password expires for one it expires for the other.

This is great if you're running an A/D setup and want to add MFA to your mix. It doesn't add an extra layer of passwords or config, so that helps the users. Once installed, it communicates quickly with the necessary components and hasn't left us hanging yet. It is reliable and comes with pretty good user instructions.
