Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
Watchguard is the perimeter firewall for multiple office. I use it for Site-to-site VPN networking connecting all offices together. its used for the rare need for remote VPN access to internal resources. It is used to provide some content filtering for example porn, hacking, and other sites that are sensitive in a corporate environment. Its nice to have the ability to block access to websites based on countries helps to eliminate some of the more riskier connections outside the US.
- Site-to-site VPN
- content filtering
- mobile worker VPN
- Logging
- combined reporting from multiple devices in one location
- better information about new features when released
- Easy to Configure
- Uptime is never an issue
I went through CDW government using our assigned rep that reached out to watchguard and had a demo before the purchase. it was simple and easy, they made recommendations and helped determine the devices we needed.
I only have two of the four firewall devices that have the ability to connect to the web portal for management/reporting. The two sites that do not have this ability are small satellite offices for a maximum of two employees. I do like that I can look at the two main sites data though its helpful when I have time to look.
I am not using any cloud products other than the ability to look at the edge devices. I have a very limited need at the moment. That may change in the future.
I prefer the Watchguard over the cisco products for us. It was always a huge pain to get updates for the Cisco product so I was runing it for years without updates. I know it was a risk and that's why I have moved to the Watchguard knowing that I can get updates as needed.
