Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When COVID hit we started using webex as an alternative to Zoom. Zoom was getting hacked a lot and we didn't want that kind of exposure so we implemented Webex. It is more secure than Zoom and had a lot of the same functionality. Overall, it works very well for us.

Pros and Cons

Allows communication virtually.
It has a lot of features like the waiting room.

Interactive backgrounds.
More support for Chromebooks.

Return on Investment

It allowed us to communicate when we couldn't meet in person.
The software is kind of frustrating how it loads with Windows by default.

Alternatives Considered

Google Meet and Zoom

It is lacking some features that Google Meet and Zoom have now. When covid first hit they were all about the same, but since then, Webex has dropped the ball. Webex only has 200 meeting participants whereas Zoom has 1000. Webex is lacking a touch-up appearance filter. They also don't integrate with as many vendors as Zoom.

Reliability and Availability

This software is very available. We've had no problems with their system being down. A great feature is your personal room. You can use it as well to invite people to and the meeting number never changes. I also like the break-out rooms and the whiteboard. It works very well. Another great feature is the waiting room. It will allow you to permit people into the meeting.

Scalability

This is very scalable. You can have up to 200 people in a meeting. We deployed it to all of our departments with ease. You don't need to install any software. We just used Google Chrome to host our meetings. Webex has supported several meetings going on at the same time with no problems.

Performance

If I remember correctly the bandwidth requirement for Webex is low. So everything loads quickly and the videos rarely lag. This helps us considerably since we are in a rural community where high-speed internet access is rare. Overall, the software works well. We do not integrate this with any other software or systems.

Likelihood to Recommend

When Zoom was hacked, Cisco Webex seemed more secure so we moved to Webex. Since Zoom has increased security we use Webex less often. I still believe that Webex has very good security. They have end-to-end encryption and use strong encryption. I do like how only authenticated users can view messages in Webex spaces.
