As I mentioned earlier, it's best used for "presentations," rather than bona fide "training." That's why we tend to use it when the information is relatively simple and/or doesn't need to be fully internalized or mastered (which would require providing opportunities for practice and feedback and a more engaging, interactive learning experience). However, it can be used as part of a blended-learning solution, with some information provided via an Adobe Presenter module first, and then some kind of instructor-led session as a follow-up, which would include more role-specific info, as well as practice and feedback opportunities.Also, as I mentioned earlier, Adobe Presenter Video Express is great for creating quick overview demos about a new system -- more of a "see what it can do" type thing than a "here's how you do it" thing (unless the "it" is very simple and the video is used more as a microlearning/performance support type of offering).

SAP SuccessFactors

Success Factors is really well suited to handling needs of my organization. They've done a good job integrating with our course catalog and making it easy to book courses right from within the application. It falls short in letting managers cascade their objectives easily. When I cascade an objective, the cascaded objective will often inherit comments from my own objective and share them down to my reports - not ideal behavior.

  • Because it integrates with PowerPoint, it is possible to go from planning outline to storyboard to final output withing a single document and as part of a seamless and logical design process.
  • Its ability to create videos that capture screens along with web-cam recordings, then edit them within the solution means higher level training recordings can be created versus, say a recorded WebEx training session.
  • Presenter's ability to create quiz elements similar to Adobe Captivate, add interactions, and interface with Adobe's LMS means it is capable of functioning as a complete e-learning development environment. .
  • If up front cost is a consideration, Presenter wins hands down over many better known training development and e-learning solutions.

  • Assignment Profile: This is an automated way of assigning courses and activities to users (through user interface configuration or through data feed synchronization).
  • Plateau Reports Designer: A client tool to customize the reports in SAP SuccessFactors Learning, widely used by most of the large organizations.
  • BizX integration: It's a SuccessFactors Business Execution (BizX) platform to connect the talent management and human resource management. It has a comprehensive view of the organization's resources skills, expertise, experience, and competency, etc.
  • Domain, Domain Restrictions and Roles: This is mainly to create an organizational structure and to provide the needed security permissions.
  • Integration with Jam, Skype and WebEx, etc.

  • We have faced some difficulty with Presenter and Adobe Flash. Some of our teachers have grown weary of constant messages of not having the correct Flash player, even though it is.
  • We wish we had the ability to use more than one quiz in a presentation in order to more accurately determine student success, but we are able to see the number of slides viewed along with the quiz score to help determine mastery.

  • The app for ios and android have room for improvement. They are aware of the limitations but amount of access and functionality is not where it needs to be.
  • The homepage of Successfactors takes longer to load and refresh itself. Especially true when viewing employee files. That is partially due to how much information is having to show on the page but it still seems to take more time than usual to show each screen.
  • You can't change the amount of time the homepage will lock you out from inactivity. This might seem minuscule but it causes so many painful re-logins and time wasting effort to login again. There currently isn't an option to change the time before lockout.

My company is pretty invested in the Adobe ecosystem and is unlikely to change that in the foreseeable future. Also, Adobe Presenter is a very valuable tool and, with the new subscription model and the pricing we have, a relatively modest expense now. It's also fairly easy to learn and use, so it is starting to spread beyond the sphere of the various Learning & Development departments.

Support is still lacking. If we don't have a critical business need where we're looking to license something new, there is no partnership with SuccessFactors. Unless of course you purchase the Platinum Support which we did not. It is difficult for us to take advantage of new functionality when we have professional services fees that will be incurred as a result. We're in a tough economy and our budgets are slim. We don't have wiggle room to add $5k here or $10k there. The overall integration into a total HCM solution is also lacking.

Due to the aforementioned issues with Flash, it can be discouraging to get to the publishing stage and begin receiving error messages. Once we are able to move past that issue, we have great success with the performance of Adobe Presenter.

I think I pretty much answered this earlier....premium support is extremely expensive and online support can be difficult to navigate. Although, to be fair, when it comes to Presenter (compared to, say, Captivate), there isn't too frequent a need for support, since Presenter is a rather simple tool to use

The overall platform could use the updates, so the overall look of it seems more modern. Also, the number of possible customizations could be made more simple to implement. SAP SuccessFactors does have a helpline that is helpful and free. On a positive note, it is beneficial in our performance reviews and recruiting efforts.

Adobe Presenter was the first product we started using. We were lacking something in our system and someone recommended Adobe Presenter to us. After carefully reviewing aspects of Adobe Presenter, we figured it will be best for our needs. Although the transition period was a little tough for us, in a couple of weeks time we were very comfortable with it.

As a whole, SuccessFactors is tough to beat. It's at its best when all of the modules are working together. There are few competitors that offer the full talent suite.Individually, the quality of the modules can vary. The performance and goal management modules perform well but the recruiting one significantly lags its competitors. The recruiting world has seen a lot of advances in technology over the last few years but these have yet to trickle down into the SuccessFactors module.
