Paired with Citect SCADA or System Platform, this is an excellent process historian. It also works well collecting OPC data. For basic data storage, retrieval, and analysis, this is well suited. This is not well suited for very large deployments. Multiple instances would need to be used to scale up, and the data fed into a second-tier/enterprise historian for corporate user consumption.

Filmora is best for anyone who wants a medium-advanced video editing software but is not wanting to spend the time and money required to learn advanced editing software like Adobe Premier Pro. You can start making great looking videos in just a few hours with Filmora. Filmora is also a great option for professional video editors who want a lighter, faster and more fun program for editing smaller projects like videos for social media and video ads[.]

Pros
AVEVA
  • Data storage--multiple data sources stream data in real time; it is stored without issue
  • Data retrieval--small to moderate queries and trends are generally fast and efficient
  • Cost effectiveness--it is one of the cheaper (non-enterprise) historian offers and therefore is good value for money (with a reduced feature set)

  • Edits videos very well.
  • Records the screen of your computer perfectly. This is great if you are an architect because you can show on a video how you make your renderings and plans with Autocad, chief architect premier, Adobe photoshop or even revit.
  • You can cut videos perfectly and add music to them easily.
  • You can use several predesigned themes to create any video you desire.
  • You can add as much text as you want to your videos
  • There are several filters you can use to improve the images on the recordings.

Cons
AVEVA
  • Query performance--for very long-term/large queries; the latest version which we are yet to commission has some improvements in this area
  • User interface--the trend, query, and Excel add-ins are basic and could do with a refresh; web-based clients are a paid add-on and less full featured, so not a true replacement
  • Connectivity--Wonderware System Platform driver packs are required for additional data source types, where native connectors are not provided by other products

  • The enhancing half is a bit bizarre, it is like you're driving in the UK, I am undecided why they selected to reverse clipping and reduce movies
  • More often than not I've to deal with not screwing up the video timeline however accidentally delete or enhance a clip.
  • I hope they modify it to a extra common enhancing mode.

Everything I have tried to do was easy to figure out. The export and online store where you get additional titles, etc. have very minor issues, correct those and it's a solid 10.

I'm giving this a ten because I haven't needed the support in any way, however, I've gotten correspondence from them letting me know that they are available if needed. I've seen reviews saying the support is lacking but those were years ago. I'm assuming they've figured everything out by now.

Alternatives Considered
AVEVA
AVEVA Historian, formerly Wonderware, was the best of the process tier historians in terms of reliability and functionality. It is still under development and not a "dead" product. It is also more cost effective than the more full-featured enterprise historians, such as PI, which our organization is not yet ready for. The feature set is at the right cost level, coupled with current support, were the key factors in the decision.

Filmora is easy enough to use after you get started. There are other programs with more functions but that depends on what you need it for. Just for cutting and small editing Filmora is really great and useful. Movavi has more functions, or at least it felt like it but therefore is more complicated to use.
