Paycom is an automated HCM platform, built on a single database that eliminates redundant data entry through automation. A payroll and HR software solution, Paycom is used by organizations of all sizes to access employee data without navigating multiple systems.
BambooHR is much more robust and easy to use compared to Paycom. It was difficult navigating the Paycom portal and it didn't have close the number of features BambooHR had, and was more expensive.
BambooHR is much easier to use than Paycom or Paylocity but has fewer bells and whistles. It is far more accurate than Paylocity and has a better user interface than Paycom.
In my experience, I prefer overall reporting and functionality of Rippling, Gusto, and Ease. It is on par with Employee Navigator and Paycom (due to more user friendly design) Prefer to Worklio, Paylocity, and ADP Workforce.
I needed a system that was easy to use from an admin level as well as employee level. We run a pretty simple operation as we do not have shift diffs or multiple approval levels. Some of the systems reviewed were too much for us and, as a result, too expensive. BambooHR® fit our …

BambooHR is the best, but unfortunately, it doesn't currently have an adequate payroll module for our needs.
We have BambooHR because of its great interface and user-friendly design. It meets our employees' needs as well as our employer's needs. We have integrations with some programs where Bonusly isn't able to cover.
I used to use that software but couldn't meet up my demand. But in BambooHR workforce management platform features are really amazing than that. Platforms, content and overall everything of BambooHR is work-worthy.
Other tools with a more unified platform (including a more mature payroll solution) have been much more robust in terms of their data and reporting capabilities. BambooHR, however, has the edge on having a flashier look that may be more appealing to some up-and-coming …
BambooHR has a much more minimalistic UI but with many of the same features offered by Paycom. Paycom is much more all-inclusive of various features not offered by BambooHR but is not nearly as easy to navigate. Paycom's robust suite of features and tools/resources make it an …
When evaluating competitors, one of the decision points has been how seamless the experience is from login to each of the different modules. Many legacy providers have the same modules, but they are not seamless. They are "connected" behind the scenes and skinned to appear to …
The system itself is way more appeasing to the eye, which is nice for someone who works in it every day. Also, the functionality of the system just seems to make sense.
I've used BambooHR, which I loved, but they just didn't have a payroll side to it. I've used ADP, which I hate it, and wasn't interested in getting their HR side of it. We've used a product called Epicor, which it was mediocre at best. And those are the only products I'm …
ADP Workflow, Paylocity, BambooHR, Worklio - Paycom has a superior feature set and reporting tools. Rippling, Gusto, PlanSource - Paycom is less preferred due to its overly complex feature set.
Paycom stacks up well overall against other providers in the same realm. There are areas of improvement that other companies are handling better, but overall, they are very similar. Paycom could improve on two major components: intersystem communication and ATS. Betti, however, …
We were using BambooHR, Workable, and Lattice before switching to Paycom. All of them were great software, but we switched to Paycom to accommodate our anticipated growth and reduce the number of separate HR software our employees were using. Bamboo, Workable, and Lattice have …
We ended up selecting Paycom as we thought it was the best match for our organization. We were looking at a few factors: service, communication, technology, functions/capabilities, reporting and of course financials. While Paycom wasn't the cheapest option, in fact, one of the …
I think it's really well-suited for any and all HR use cases (pay info, paid time off, manager and performance information, etc.). However, I think it could be improved in other areas. We are currently undergoing SOC II compliance training as well as other AI-related compliance training, and I think it would be helpful if all of these trainings were integrated into one platform.
As I mentioned, the onboarding process is incredibly easy. We have around 300 employees and are constantly hiring, so Paycom has been a huge help. In fact, the ATS functionality was a major factor in our decision to switch to Paycom.
I like the employee self-service feature. It's very straightforward and easy to use. I also like my representative, Mikey. He's been very helpful—every time I call him, I get the assistance I need. I also appreciate how quickly I can get someone on the phone and get help when needed.
Applicant tracking - In my experience, the process is clunky, no notifications are sent when my supervisor moves candidates between statuses, so I miss scheduling interviews.
Applications often arrive without the information that I marked as "required". When I asked support, they said I made changes to the questions (the disqualifying questions, not the categories that are toggled on/off) and that affected the applications so that applicants were no longer required to answer the categories that I had toggled on.
In my opinion, Benefits Administration was too hard to set up and use, we switched to a full service broker.
It would be great if I could pull a list of all employee assets. It's easier to keep track of on a spreadsheet than to enter into BambooHR®.
I feel Performance Management through BambooHR® is completely unusable. The goal forms would be great if we could add questions, details, and reminders. We have specific formatting for SMART goals each year, and I'm unable to recreate anything close in BambooHR®.
We cannot use the Annual Performance Review features in BambooHR® either because there are not enough questions/blanks (max of 10? our APR has 5 questions and 20 areas for scaled ratings.)
I am not a fan of the most recent update. I wasn't prepared for the change especially given it came right before payroll was processed. I'm told given time, I will get used to it and I'm always open to change for the better.
IWant™ feature isn't what I hoped it would be. I haven't used it much given the information I need in Paycom I can find quickly on my own. I have heard however that several employees utilize and appreciate the IWant™ feature.
There's nothing wrong with this platform. I would recommend it to any business starting with more than 10 employees. I will continue to use the program for as long as I need to, hoping they continue being tremendous and finding other ways to incorporate more technology.
we are having no problems with how the system works and our support system at paycom is the best - we are learning more and using the system in more ways all the time the only thing that could be better is pricing on some things
I think if you have time to spend in the system learning all the functionality, it can be very useful. Also, their support department is very helpful if you reach out to them with questions. Unfortunately, I don't think that most staff who aren't using the system regularly, like daily, will be able to retain the information taught to them.
I'm probably going to have to go seven and three-quarter to eight, and that may be user error to me because I know Paycom has got it figured out, but there's times I just can't figure it out, even with some of the tutorials, the university, the show-mes, and calling Alex, our representative. He can hold my hand and walk me through that process, and it just may be I didn't get it, but that's why I gave that score. I'd give it a solid nine.
Yes, there is a huge team in the back of the online platform or it looks like it because I have never been left without an answer when I have a question or waiting from a response on my chat .... There must be a huge team, this is so great and I always seem to have someone that is very knowledgeable too. So many times in the past I had to leave with customer service that would connect you with someone else because of the expertise, here everyone seems to be some kind of an expert in the HR function.
I love BambooHR. Reports are easy to run and download and it usually covers any types of requests I get from the management team. You get excel or .csv downloads/reports and it is fast and simple, not too crowded so it is easy to read through. We don't integrate the tool yet but again, soon we will. we just did not had the time to utilize it yet but that's the plan.
Support has always been excellent. I was skeptical about not having a dedicated account manager at first, but my concerns were quickly eased. I love the different options for communication. Being able to chat, send emails or call a representative are great so that my workflow isn't disrupted by having to complete a call. I have never had an issue reaching anyone and the email follow up is great!
In 6 years, we've never had a bad experience with client support. We implemented during COVID, and I was the only person in HR at the time. I was also having to homeschool our children, which meant bizarre work hours and limited time to focus on platform build at times. There were nights that I was literally on calls at 11 pm and the implementation team was unbelievably supportive. Recently, a Position Seat specialist came on site to help us set up for our 5 client codes - the experience was transformative for how we use the platform and an absolute game changer. I trust Paycom because I trust our representatives. They truly are strategic partners for us, and work to ensure we're maximizing the platform and that our needs are being met
Tadd and Ellie have been great! They have show us many aspects that implementation did not. They are very personable and action oriented as well. Anytime we need them they offer to swing in.
Overall this training was great and our implementation specialist was wonderful and very helpful. We felt really prepared once our training was completed, But we could get additional help immediately even when we were live. The continuation Support heros after implementation are wonderful and you can always get a LIVE person each time you call into their office.
It was good, but hard to know what questions you need to ask until you actually get in there and start working with a live product. But Paycom is also very helpful every time I call and can't figure something out. Nathan has been very friendly and helpful no matter what I call him about. He is always eager to help out.
We implemented bambooHR in Fall, 2023 then implemented Payroll 1/1/24. A vital piece of information was not known or missed in that we are exempt from State Unemployment Tax and have a Reimbursement Set-up, so bambooHR did not send Payroll Reports to the State. Those reports need to be sent regardless if we are exempt or not.
Not at all satisfied it was a nightmare we spent over 8 months with the implementation team having issues after issues all related to the Puerto Rico regulations (half my employees are in Puerto Rico) and at the end we were moved over from the implementation team to the production team without all the issues being resolved
These are the three that come to mind, and we use each program for different things. We stick to HR driven areas for Bamboo, as we haven't shifted to it for payroll or project management. I do find Bamboo to be the most user-friendly, with the smallest learning curve of all the other programs, though.
I have not currently used any other products. I'm still kind of new to the HR industry. The only other thing that I really have to compare it to is Vonmar's system, which they created themselves, and it was not user-friendly.
Since my organization has dropped with employees, I always find ways to reduce costs. I thought there would be a cheaper option, but I was glad that my package included a lot for the price, and downgrading would cost more. The rep could have let me downgraded and taken me to a higher package. I am thankful that didn't happen.
There is so much you can do with this platform, it is incredible and so welcoming. We don't utilize it 100% yet just because we are growing and the HR team has not been able to concentrate on other areas offered to us but but we will soon. Which is also why we got the product, specifically because what BambooHR can do to help us meet our growing business needs.
It's helped us save time. We've been able to automate a number of payroll and accounting functions. It's also enabled our employees to use the ask gear feature. So it's really saved time, and also we've not gotten hacked, which is always a plus.
