Overall Satisfaction with BambooHR

I use BambooHR as the main platform to house all employee information. Additionally, I use the payroll function. The product provides a one-stop shop for basic HR needs for the business.
  • Customer Service - The customer service is consistent and the team is always eager to help. They are polite, patient, and there are never terrible interactions.
  • Communication - BambooHR communication channels are simple. There are many different ways to communicate with the team. I prefer e-mail because it helps me keep track of the conversations and they respond within the appropriate time. Also, the e-mail reminders or notifications help tremendously and it's not overbearing.
  • User Interface - It's simple and easy to use!
  • Integration - I would love to see more integration with certain timekeeping systems that will automatically import approved hours to TRAXPayroll. This would cut down on having to manually keying hours.
  • Creating more system items that fit the restaurant industry, such as workforce scheduling and forecasting. This is probably a huge ask and doesn't fit the platform, but it would help keep and attract more businesses as it relates to being a "one-stop" program.
  • Keeping the cost as low as possible will help small businesses continue. With the cost of inflation, it would be helpful for companies to have as much customization as possible to eliminate or only pay for things you need.
  • Record Keeping - Saving time with a bunch of filing.
  • Time saver - It used to take us forever to complete payroll, and now it is done within minutes.
  • Onboarding - It is quick to make adjustments where needed to offer letter and job postings.
As mentioned earlier, the user interface is easy and simple!
If I could rate this higher, I would. The customer service is not comparable to any other company. They are always willing to help solve issues and do it graciously.
I can easily find the data needed for payroll or salary adjustments, for example. The reporting function is essential and cuts does an a bunch of research.
For small business, like myself, BambooHR is enough. When working for more giant corporations, Workday was amazing. However, I cannot compare their customer service. In terms of user experience, BambooHR is definitely better than the others listed.

BambooHR is well suited for corporate type of organization. For example, the performance reviews are great, but if something more tailored to the restaurant side were quick and easy, that would be awesome. Timekeeping, as I mentioned, could be a bit more automated. Customer service is top-notch!

Using BambooHR

2 - I use all functions, but primarily payroll. The other manager uses hiring to look at applicants. The employees use the self-service to view paystubs.
1 - No skills required beside assigning access and resetting passwords.

  • Reporting - I like the dashboards because it gives you a snapshot of employee data!
  • Time accruals - We don't fully implement the time accrual process for pay. It helps to determine what policy will work best for accruing time and how to reward the employee for their length of service.
  • Performance Management - We haven't had the staff yet to implement a full performance review system. Hopefully we will get there soon as we continue to expand.
  • Benefits - I haven't explored this yet, because we are still trying to expand, but this would help in the future as we try and offer benefits to employees.
There's nothing wrong with this platform. I would recommend it to any business starting with more than 10 employees. I will continue to use the program for as long as I need to, hoping they continue being tremendous and finding other ways to incorporate more technology.

Evaluating BambooHR and Competitors

Yes - Excel! :) The program replaced the need for many excel sheets for keeping up specific reporting.

The implementation was great, too! Again, this made me feel comfortable with the customer service that I received.
There's nothing that I would change. All the other programs were hit-and-miss regarding what I was looking for, and BambooHR was closer to the mark.

BambooHR Implementation

The instructions for implementation were laid out nicely. The reps told me what to expect and what actions I needed to take by specific deadlines.
Change management was minimal - The program's rollout could have gone better on my part as owner. It has nothing to do with BambooHR.

BambooHR Training

I didn't have in-person training besides teaching my managers how to use the program. However, I couldn't omit this question (maybe a system glitch).
The knowledge base center has excellent information to help with common issues.

Configuring BambooHR

Just right. The only customization I had to do was add a few details to the payroll.

No, I don't believe I purchased premium support. This support has never been needed. I will assume because my company isn't as complex.
Most of my support requests have been through payroll, and I have always received the best support.

  • I haven't come across anything cumbersome. I would say before they moved payroll over to the new form because the Traxpayroll looked dated; however, I am pretty advanced with using systems, so it wasn't difficult for me.
Yes - The self-service app seems to work well. Also, the ATS (Hiring) app is helpful, especially when you would like to share the job posting on the go.

BambooHR Reliability

It definitely serves the purpose of being able to handle multiple departments within the organization.
Since I am on Eastern Time, most of my administration work happens at night or early in the morning. I can only recall a time or two when I needed support, but BambooHR wasn't available. It wasn't urgent, though. I sent a ticket, and they followed up as appropriate. As far as outages, I have never been impacted by those.
I've never seen any performance issues with this.

Relationship with BambooHR

The vendor was friendly and I knew what to expect during the process.

Since my organization has dropped with employees, I always find ways to reduce costs. I thought there would be a cheaper option, but I was glad that my package included a lot for the price, and downgrading would cost more. The rep could have let me downgraded and taken me to a higher package. I am thankful that didn't happen.
