If I had to recommend an endpoint AV solution, [BlackBerry Protect (CylancePROTECT)] would be on the list...in fact at the top of the current list. It is a cost effective solution. When we did the bakeoff in our selection we built 3 generic W10 PCs. We located a Malware repository on the internet and downloaded a package of 100. The first solution stopped 80% from installing, the second stopped 100%, [BlackBerry (CylancePROTECT)] would not let the package download! Winner winner chicken dinner :)

Cisco
It is well suited for large corporate entities, whether they are in manufacturing, sales, engineering, healthcare, supply or shipping. It is easy to understand and operate once it has been initially configured. Expansion of the system is likewise easy to do once expertise has been acquired. The only difficulty with this or any cloud scenario is ensuring where the data is located and managing that securely.

Pros
BlackBerry
  • Fast and Unobtrusive, users hardly notice that Cylance is running on their computer, except when it detects something malicious
  • User interface is simple for end users, and the management interface is streamlined and easy to get started with. The management interface has a quick tutorial that comes up upon first login that explains all the different aspects of how to configure CylanceProtect.
  • Customer support is fantastic - in that if you get stuck or need help understanding a feature/setting, they are quick to respond and help to ensure that your configuration is set as optimal as possible for your scenarios.

Cisco
  • We are able to automate deployment which has been a strength to the geographical distribution of the enterprise.
  • We have been able to work with a wider variety of developer tools and haven't had to customize to fit CloudCenter.
  • It is easier for us to allocate space and allow users to take advantage of the system directly with a minimum of overhead.

Cons
BlackBerry
  • It would be great if there was a way for an administrator to make a file as safe from the end user device when a false positive has occurred (which is rare). At present and administrator has to log into the web console, create an exception and then wait 60-120 seconds for this to be effective on the end user device, still great, but this can be frustrating for users that are urgently trying to use the file.
  • Executive reporting could be better. Just a single page dashboard report that could be included in other monthly reporting.

Cisco
  • The software and systems don't present a problem to us but the continued interaction with mid-level support teams and vendors can slow down implementation or correction of difficulties we experience.
  • The continued overhead associated with peripheral training on systems we have purchased can cause delays.
  • Language barriers sometimes show up but this, again, is due to remote middle agents that are themselves contractors of or sales agents of the main agency. It slows down communication and can introduce business difficulties.

Support Rating
BlackBerry
I have only used CylancePROTECT support one time and they were very fast and responsive with the answers that solved my issue. That is the only reason I gave them a 7 as I have only had one interaction with them.

BlackBerry
Cylance, I believe is the only one that uses the predict and prevent execution of advanced threats and malware at the endpoint. Cylance is by far a superior product.

We found that the cost advantages were greater by going with Cisco because of our present contracts and the materials and equipment we already had on hand. The reliability of the system, for us, outweighed any cost advantages we might have been realized by going with another provider. Certainly the service and support for the entire system is much better when handled by a single vendor with a good track record.

Return on Investment
BlackBerry
  • We have the piece of mind that our endpoints are protected.
  • We have more time to work on other projects as we don't have to worry about computers being on to have scheduled scans.
  • Our computers CPU and RAM aren't going to be taken up with big process like typical anti-virus programs do.

Cisco
  • We have had a positive return on investment by adopting Cisco CloudCenter as the system is more mature than competitors. We have saved a lot by working with them rather than continuing to act as a defacto test location for other systems.
  • We have been able to reduce the number of staff necessary to operate the system and turn them over to more profitable work.
  • One negative impact we have seen is that it is difficult to map where the data is located at any specific instance.
