BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans is reasonably close to Zoom. I do not have a paid account with Zoom, so I prefer BlueJeans when setting up a scheduled meeting. The app is very intuitive and feels relatively non-invasive. I like the phone-in service provided. We have used this quite a lot for …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
As far as just general meetings, I think BlueJeans is in the same class as Zoom and Blackboard...basically. BlueJeans does lack certain features, like being able to save a chat. BlackboardCollaborate does online learning so well that it would be my goto for that purpose. I …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
I like BlueJeans better. The calls are more consistent and it is easier to schedule meetings, install the plugin, and invite people to meetings.
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
BlueJeans is my favorite tool for business meetings. Other tools continue to improve but they are still held back by feature decisions that they can't get away from. Blackboard is feature rich but very hard to use. Webex has been know stop working when the number of …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
We use BlueJeans in collaboration with our Polycom codecs. However, we were able to move away from the very expensive bridge we used to use in favor of BlueJeans. The advantage with BlueJeans is that we can easily send invites outside our organization and the product is so …
Chose BlueJeans Meetings (discontinued)
The biggest reason that we selected BlueJeans is the reliability and accessibility of the platform. Our POTS conference lines are unreliable, frequently down, or have glitchy issues. We do not experience those daily pain points with BlueJeans. The accessibility from multiple …

I would say it is very useful for group collaborations online, as well as virtual classrooms where you wish your students/guests to collaborate in an adaptable environment; however I would advise against using the shared screen to display audio or video, nor would I encourage the use of the shared board with a group of people with disciplinary issues (as there is no accountability for who wrote/drew what).

  • Collaboration with team members, clients and partners who spread out across the globe is made simple by Bluejeans meeting. As an Application developer it is easier for me to collaborate with people from various cultures and time zones so this is very important.
  • For code review , it plays an excellent role, it enables real time screen sharing and code discussion among my team, this facilitate quicker and more effective bug detection and correction.
  • Pair programming is a great use for it. It make possible for two programmers to collaborate on same code even when they are not physically near to each other.

Pros
Class Technologies, Inc
  • The Whiteboard feature is perfect for tutoring. We use it to write out formulas, draw diagrams, etc while in video chat to enhance explanations.
  • The file attachment feature is also very handy. This means we don't have to do a follow-up with a student using their email to send files of handouts, etc.
  • It's great that we only have to share a classroom access link for a student to enter a session. With other products, they had to set up a username and log-in with an account. Link access means 1 less hassle.
  • We are currently beginning to use the "record session" feature video sessions to use as training for new employees.

  • Bluejeans' ability to record meetings would be beneficial for future references like If I ever needed to revisit a discussion or training sessions, I could access the recorded content, eliminating the need to take extensive notes during meeting.
  • Calendar program and messaging services are just a couple of the productivity and collaboration tools that Bluejeans frequently integrates with, scheduling of meeting and team members communication would become more efficient as a result.
  • Typically, bluejeans provides mobile app, making it usable on tables and smartphone, this enables me to take part in a meeting even if I am not near a computer system.

Cons
Class Technologies, Inc
  • Some of the newest computer high resolution screens are not as compatible with the interface. The font and windows are much smaller and the user is not able to increase the size of the windows to make it easier to read/navigate.
  • The audio can sometimes be inconsistent and tune in and out when someone is speaking. This is not every time though and many times the audio is clear.
  • The login process takes a bit longer to get into the program. You have to go through a few step process and loading time to get into the application.

  • Video quality is different between their desktop app version and web browser version
  • I prefer using Bluejeans web browser version but it lack many features which are there in their Desktop App version, which is really disappointing.
  • Not a big issue but if they decrease their pricing, it will be great

It is a tool that faculty likes to use. It has so much flexibility to allow students to see a class even if they happen to not be available in the classroom.

I have used many other competing platforms platforms; however, despite the fact that BlueJeans lacks certain features others offer, familiarity, ease of use, and several things BlueJeans does better than others mean that I will stick to BlueJeans. Further, whenever I have faced a problem, I have found BlueJeans support excellent overall; no lengthy wait to understand and resolve an issue. Good product, great support, BOTH TESTED OVER TIME; I do not have an incentive to move to another platform.

Usability

Blackboard Collaborate is reliable and feature-rich. It's a great web conferencing tool for teaching & learning, offering polls, chat, video and audio, whiteboard, content sharing, and breakout rooms. Blackboard Collaborate can be used for virtual office hours, lectures, guest speakers, training, professional development, conferences, technical support, academic advising, and so much more. Blackboard Collaborate can be used separately from the learning management system or it can be integrated for a single sign-on experience. It supports recordings, playbacks, private sharing, and MP4 downloads. Overall, it's a solid tool and very reliable.

I don't have much experience of joining a meeting from an attendee of someone else's. As for joining a meeting I've created, it's very easy. For recurring meetings, I find the meeting in my list, and if it's near the time to start, there will be a "Join" button, and I just push that. After that, it gives me the options for joining -- video, audio, phone, screen share only. It remembers my previous choices, so mostly I just can click by that. As for attendees joining, there do seem to be connection problems from time to time and people have to log off and come back on, but we had that trouble with GoToMeeting also. Being able to mute attendees is much better in BlueJeans. When we had GoToMeeting, I constantly had problems with people joining by phone incorrectly, such that they didn't even show up in the meeting list and thus I couldn't mute them when needed.

Reliability and Availability
Class Technologies, Inc
The availability of the software is quite impressive. You can access it at any time that you want and from anywhere that you want, but that depends on how the software is set up by the University. There might be sudden outages due to not having enough space on your database, which we had that very issue happen recently here at our University. During that time, you could not access their blackboard at all until it was brought up online again.

The performance of the software is remarkable. The loading speed of the pages is more than satisfying, it all depends on the users internet package. So far, there wasn't any issue of Blackboard slowing down other software or systems when integrated with them

This has been a continual issue with our organization. We are a IP/H323 infrastructure so we integrate BlueJeans via the IP/H323 connections to the cloud. We still have inconsistent results with calls. Some work without issue and some calls are horribly choppy and at times freeze. If I have one complaint or reason to seek out a different competitor its this

Sometimes they do planned maintenance. Depending on the time zone you’re in, this may be in the middle of the night. That’s great. Sometimes this maintenance isn’t completed overnight however, and you need to use the platform and it is down. I’ve never been able to successfully contact them to report an outage or get assistance when it is down. I just have to wait until it comes back up to go to class, review sessions, etc.

In all these years, there has been ONE instance when a problem I pointed out (with screenshots, no less) was DENIED. That apart, though there have been a few instances where there has been a delay in resolution (more to do with offering new features), I have NEVER felt frustrated about help not being on hand when I needed it most.

Nearpod does not allow for the same type of synchronous environment that Blackboard collaborate does. Further, Nearpod, as the name suggests is best suited for a face-to-face classroom that is, preferably, one-to-one. While it has some of the same functions as Nearpod, Blackboard collaborate is best suited for remote transmission rather than face-to-face

Select Blujeans Meetings because it allows me to better convey my ideas and at the same time build trust through real-time videoconferences. As well as sharing documents and presentations via screen sharing, I love the option to record play and then share the recording to colleagues who couldn't attend is what's needed.

Scalability
Class Technologies, Inc
The reason for this rating is that the software is a pretty good tool that can be utilized for use in all of the Universities around the world. It has the capability to fulfill the needs of various different education systems. Although, there are slight improvements that are needed, therefore the rating is at 8.

I believe BlueJeans is easy to scale, but we have a different business model that requires a more central scheduling need. Most vendors operate on an enterprise wide environment with a one to one licensing. We have a centralized group of video administrators and schedulers that do the majority of the scheduling for multiple departments. Because we are a centralized scheduling group we need shared access to on schedule not multiple users delegating access to one another. I.E. if I have 5 schedulers, under the current licensing they would each have individual accounts and delegating those accounts to one another. So when receiving a support call they have to search 5 individual schedules to make changes to meetings. This I think is a valid need even for smaller businesses that just have a few schedulers for the rest of the groups. It would be easier if it scaled within the individual accounts

  • Because faculty can schedule sessions on-the-fly without IT involvement, they are able to accomplish goals that they plan for weeks in advance as well as impromptu goals that come up at a moments notice.
  • Integration with the campus Learning Management Systems provides quick and easy scheduling of sessions that can be joined easily by students in those courses.
  • Scheduling of meetings can also be done through the web interface directly which enables administrative departments not associated with courses in the learning management system to also schedule meetings not affiliated with courses.
  • On-campus users can schedule meetings without outside participants by sending an open "guest link" URL that allows users to participate despite not having an account within the system iteself.

  • All-Hands meetings were improved to feel less like a prerecorded video show and more like an actual conversation using BlueJeans.
  • Client meetings remained smooth in the transition to working-from-home with easy video calling and scheduling.
  • These were the main points that helped my department, as I am unfamiliar with how BlueJeans was implemented in external sales uses, but I imagine it was equally helpful for meetings when in-person was not available.
