Dynatrace Network Application Monitoring (Discontinued) vs. germain CRT

Dynatrace Network Application Monitoring (NAM), formerly DCRUM, has improved greatly compared to when it was DCRUM; however, it still needs a lot of improvement in end-to-end flow capture with regards to network monitoring. Its alerting and integration capabilities are very good and easy to use. But it still needs a lot of tweaking in usability.

It is perfectly suited for keeping all your developers up-to-date with the latest best practices. In the case of a really huge system, the possibility to identify the most critical line of script that needs to be fixed for the most severe production issues is a huge benefit. It will not be that useful for smaller projects with just a few people in the project team.

We cannot have any complaints regarding support provided for our deployments by germain CRT. We had some worries that with such big ecosystems of plugins issues are imminent, but it really only takes a few minutes for you to add a new plugin and germain CRT support team is happy to do it for you.

Nagios can't trace real user transactions from a front-end tier through a backend-tier,;with Nagios you only can monitor server availability and hardware issues. Riverbed is commonly used to determine networking issues without considering real user transactions impact on an application stack.

germain CRT has a richer set of features when compared with its competition. The pricing policy of germain CRT works better for our type of products. The free trial allowed us to thoroughly evaluate if required features can be found and integrated to our advantage. Availability of both on-premise and cloud deployments is very important for us and not every vendor has it.
