k6 (formerly Load Impact)

[k6 (formerly Load Impact)] is well suited to run performance automated suites and to run stress tests, spike tests and load tests[.] We can run tests from recorded [sessions] but we cannot run npm modules and we cannot run nod js libs[.]

Progress Test Studio

The application is ideal for experienced users, but not so much for beginners. It is great in finding flaws and monitoring the performance of pages for business users. The element library is a great feature that saves a lot of time during the User Interface updation. It also helps in verifying the integration and authenticity of our API.Some features that can hugely help companies are:
  • Simulations of multiple users accessing website concurrently.
  • Recording and playback functions that are simple to use.
  • Compatibility with Visual Studio and other Telerik products

Progress Test Studio

  • The coding IDE is a tad slow compared to Visual Studio.
  • Quite expensive, but there are several features that make up for the price.

Alternatives Considered

k6 (formerly Load Impact)

K6 is a very different kind of tool to the other load testing tools we tried. Most other tools like LoadComplete for example are more focused on creating tests from a user interface, recording tests for running later, etc. These are all very good and useful, but if your focus is running load tests on APIs only, K6 is a very good option. It's also open source and therefore can be used even if you don't have the budget for buying a pro version of a load testing solution

Progress Test Studio

Test Studios had a smaller foot print and allowed us to ease into deploying it in the company. The online help was a great benefit to getting started and the evaluation period allowed us to fully run though the product before purchasing it. Cost difference between the products was a big decision factor as well for the type of deployment we were looking for.
