We use it as a stateful firewall, as well as pretty much all of the extra security services such as Gateway AV, intelligent AV, APT Blocker, WebBlocker, SpamBlocker etc. This helps to protect our network from many different attack vectors, as well as filtering out unnecessary (spam) and inappropriate (web) content
  • Granular firewall policy
  • All security services provided from the Firebox and not requiring extra servers etc
  • Excellent training
  • No SIEM option
  • No ZTNA functionality, just traditional VPN
  • Support mostly US based, so often reply out of hours from a UK perspective
All round UTM Firewall solution in a single box

We use it for all incoming email and communications coming into our building(s). We rely on it to alert us to fraudulent actors<br>
  • Keeps each of our locations safe
  • Provides a VPN network for our outside work force
  • Keeping control over who can access our network from the outside world
  • SO many features that it is hard to be familiar with all of them
  • Big learning curve to learn all of its features
Great for medium size business that want the security but cannot afford to hire a full time staff to oversee security.

WatchGuard is in use across the whole organization which spans 6 different countries creating a wide area network using Branch Office VPNs. We use various security modules like Anti-spam, Web Filtering, IPS security, Botnet detection, etc. We have remote workers and the easy of use of VPNs let them execute their work without problem. Also, we have an external DataCenter and access it with BOVPNs, the connection was very easy to set up.
  • Use of web categories.
  • Easy rule creation.
  • Live logs.
  • Custom protocol definition.
  • Geolocation allow/block access.
  • Application control.
  • Quarantine server needs improvement, old design.
  • Dimension reports needs more filtering and selection options.
  • Dimension needs to show actual data, some reports lacks real data.
  • Policy Manager needs to improve its front-end.
  • Options in Policy Manager seem outdated.
  • Better integration with Active Directory, sometimes fails to authenticate users correctly.
Well configured, is appropriate for most scenarios but needs improvement over mail management and anti-spam; also, needs improvement for web server publishing forwarding request to many internal web servers.

We use the WatchGuard Network Security to provide us a secure and stable environment for our network. Prior to my starting at the company, they did not have any firewall or network security running. I shopped and compared various vendors and settled on WatchGuard for price and for their reputation. Implementation was straight forward
  • Intrusion Prevention and Detection
  • BotNets are detected and can be easily blocked
  • Gateway antivirus that updates throughout the day
  • Web Blocking of sites to prevent malicious or immoral websites
  • VPN
  • Technical Support
  • Generating policies can be very confusing
  • The traffic monitor is extremely busy and they could do a better job in explaining how to sort and what to sort on
I would give them a 10 but they really need to work on the speed of their tech support. When you get a technician they are very knowledgeable, but It has taken me multiple attempts to get someone in support on the phone. It doesn't matter if you mark it as having a high impact on your company, they are either extremely short staffed; or extremely busy. Either way, this is the single biggest area they should improve

We are an MSP, and deploy WatchGuard devices to a large number of clients
  • Easy to use interface
  • Centralised management of multiple devices
  • Multi-layered security protection
  • Reporting could be improved, difficult to provide executive level reports to management
WatchGuard Network Security is well suited for an office based environment, including support for public cloud infrastructure through virtual appliances. Physical appliances are available for all size locations, and are cost effective as bandwidth requirements increase.

With the addition of the Total Security suite, protection can be extended to remote endpoints to assist companies supporting work from home staff.

I personally use WatchGuard firewalls at my office. As a leading UTM appliance it allows us to be compliant, have logging (via Dimensions), proxy filtering, etc... That said, we use WatchGuard because it is what we help our customers buy and use too.
  • Easy to administer, via web or system manager (install app)
  • Proxy and App filtering
  • Multiple interfaces and VLANs
  • VPNs
  • Global objects that can be used across policies, etc...
  • SNAT being accessible from the policy setup
  • Custom Policy types more easily accessible
It is well suited for small to large businesses, especially when their are security needs or compliance needs. Whether self-managed by our clients, or managed by us, the ease of administration and WatchGuard support/service makes the WNS well suited for every scenario.

WatchGuard is a great solution for those businesses with 1 to 3000 users. It fits nicely in that SMB market space and with its ease-of-use functionality, even small business owners, tax accounts, dents, etc can affordably implement world-class security. It is very intuitive on setup, and even someone with little to no training can set one up. Their support team is always there to assist if needed.

The WatchGuard product line allows us and our clients to maintain a secure perimeter, network, and acess with ease of use by the end-users, and IT teams for management. The versatility of the Firebox licensing, cloud management and reporting, is a win-win for MSPs and internal IT teams alike. AuthPoint as a 2FA solution has been successful in small and medium sized businesses.
  • Threat management from the outside in
  • Cloud management and reporting
  • Comprehensive policies for client customization
  • Executive dashboards and reporting
  • Cloud management continues to improve
  • Interoperability between old platforms and new platforms
  • Throughput capabilities
Well suited for small businesses entering into security or looking to improve basic security, all the way to international firms with multiple sites needing a consistent and secure platform.

We currently deploy and support WatchGuard Firebox appliances across a large number of our MSP clients. This includes both physical (on-prem) and virtual (Azure) appliances. Combined with the use of the Total Security suite it provides an end-to-end UTM service for our clients.

Centralised management of the devices allows our techs to easily manage multiple sites and customers through a single portal.
  • Ease of use and multi-site or multi-client management
  • Single pane of glass support
  • Multi-layer protection
  • More out of the box reports
  • General reporting improvements
  • Ability to create firewall rules by MAC addresses
WatchGuard is well placed to support clients and sites of any size. The portfolio supports a small branch office through to a large campus, using the same consistent management interface, and providing the same user experience.

The Firebox suite is priced really competitive on high throughput WAN links, coming in at a much cheaper price point than some major competitors.

We implement a host of scalable WatchGuard Security options both in-house and for our customer base. Their firewalls and threat management work beautifully and can be tailored to many different environments. Additionally, they have amazing technical support and training resources - both online and in person.
  • threat management
  • network usage monitoring and statistics
  • automated quarantine
  • notifications
  • I wish there were more options that had links embedded in them to move to related areas in admin
  • some features are located in areas that aren't intuitive
  • not all feature sets available in the management software are available through the web interface
I honestly have found it to be so scalable that we are able to implement this solution at any given location. No job too big or too small.

We use WatchGuard Network Security to secure all clients networks. We utilize the firewalls to restrict DNS access, block ports and implement additional security measures such as content filtering, Gateway antivirus, Intrusion Prevention, spam blocker. If additional security is needed we upgrade our clients to the Total Security Suite for added protection.
  • SSL VPN is always reliable
  • Firewall policies are easy to configure
  • Basic Security Suite adds useful features
  • Bridging interfaces is a bit complicated
  • Wireless models require more expensive licenses
  • DNS Watch and Intelligent AV are only available on Total Security Suite packages
We use WatchGuard at all client offices to ensure a baseline security is met. These products require renewal of services to maintain all of their features. If you do not want to maintain licensing I would not recommend using this firewall. They are also great to use for clients that need VPN capability.

WatchGuard has been a great vendor to work with. Their products and support have always been great. I have worked with a few other vendors and their products and support are not nearly as simple to use. I would definitely recommend WatchGuard especially for firewalls.
  • Knowledgeable support
  • Logical interface layout
  • Simple backup and update process
  • Simplify transfer of ownership process
  • Built in ad blocking on firewalls
  • More dynamic DNS options
It is very simple to setup a new firewall. Very good process for swapping out old version of hardware for new. Updating licenses is quick and simple. Backups are quick and simple.

We use it as our Firewall to the outside world and also use it to give out the IP addresses to our local network. We also use it to protect our server as well as our local network, including our video camera system that is hooked up in real-time to the internet.
  • Dishes out local IP addresses.
  • Blocks Ip addresses.
  • Shows in real time what is actually going on via the WatchGuard cloud.
  • We do have wifi that is not covered by the WatchGuard network.
  • Easier way to unblock certain blocked websites that we need to get to.
  • Easier VPN tunnel.
It is well suited for our wholesale business. We are a small business with approx 8-10 desktops and servers. It does very well in dishing out the IP addresses to the various connected machines as well as blocking certain websites and keeping our system and our server safe. Love this unit.

We have implemented Border Firewalls, multifactor authentication, Secure Wifi, and Endpoint security. It solves all our problems with security in our network. It provides outstanding solutions and resolves really complex problems at the endpoint and accesses important data from outside the company. It helped our company to maintain full productivity while homeworking.
  • Full data inspection in layer 7. helping maintain excelent security.
  • Great and easy to use multifactor authentication.
  • Great End Point Protection and ease of use.
  • Secure Wifi is a solution always needed but always neglected by the user. WatchGuard Network Security provides Solid protection against misuse of WiFi and attacks.
  • I will try to expand the Access Portal capabilities.
Its ease of use, User-friendly tools, and full powerful capabilities are some of the strengths we found in their security solutions. The integration between different security solutions provided by WatchGuard Network Security really powers it up. They were and are always a step ahead and they always provide some alternative to newly discovered threats. Incorporating state-of-the-art solutions into their portfolio.

We have ran Watchguard firewalls in our business for years and when paired with the Total Security solution have found them to offer a very cost effective, user friendly and powerful tool that forms the backbone of our network security.
  • packet filtering and inspection
  • reporting and visibility
  • Malware protection
  • mfa/user authentication
  • Web Blocker can be difficult to administer and troubleshoot, can cause parts of websites to not function if not configured correctly. eg forms, pop-ups, redirects etc.
  • The documentation could be more user friendly, it is sometimes difficult to find certain information and the manuals can send you around in circles sometimes.
Great product, allows us to create secure site to site vpn's where users authenticate with mfa via the Authpoint app. User security can be defined in AD groups and are authenticated via single sign on. Gives good overall visibility of the network via logs and reports.
The intital set up/config is a more involved process than with the TZ SonicWalls, so far small office setups it may not be the best option, however it does scale up extremely well into the mid size market.

We use WatchGuard Network Security/devices at both our main and regional offices as a Firewall, Site to site, and use VPN services. These are the first physical lines of defense at our network perimeter, and Watchguard Network Security is at the heart of it.
  • IPS
  • Monitoring
  • Filtering
  • GUI needs modernisation and better, cleaner layout.
  • Dashboard needs an overhaul compared to other products on the market.
Works very well as a firewall, and is robust, as proved when we had Pen Testing against our network, however lack of a good modern dashboard is a letdown.

We use WatchGuard as our firewall/router for our main office. WatchGuard helps us block out the bad, balance our network, and monitor usage. It has received regular updates which we need. It has been easy to keep up to date and pretty easy to manage. Our device is 4 years old and the newer ones are even easier to work with.
  • Easy setup
  • Reliable
  • Good tech support
  • Cloud setup should be easier to transition
  • Cloud setup initally would have been nice
  • Make some settings a little easier to navigate
It worked out well for our business with 60 people. It might not work well for businesses over 200 but I am not sure.

WatchGuard Network Security is being used in my entire network: 2 datacenters and 10 ROBO. Each site has a cluster and all traffic is forwarded by SDWAN to the Headquarter.
  • High performance.
  • SD-WAN at low cost.
  • Enterprise class firewall.
  • L7 Firewall.
  • Firecluster Monitor.
  • Web interface + software.
Recommended to use in a ROBO or small/medium company. Easy to manage and deploy. Not recommended in top of rack or enterprise company because much feature is missing.

We use WatchGuard Network Security to keep our interface to the internet safe. We had problems with hacking/intrusion, constant port scans, email viruses, and ransomware. The downtime for repair was 1 to 3 days per incident, and the IT and productivity losses were costly and added strain to the work environment. Since implementing the T40 and the security package, we have had LESS than ONE incident per year. We protect about 20 servers, computers, and laptops. Geo-filtering really cuts down the issues from places we do not do business with. I am very pleased with the results we get for the money.
  • Geo filtering
  • packet inspection
  • real-time packet monitoring
  • firmware updates
  • initial setup complexity
The T40 is a great firewall for small business, as it has plenty of processing power and is transparent to the users. Make sure you get enough processor to handle the load for your users, using their suggestions for the number of users. They offered to help set up the unit for the first time, and it was easy with their assistance.

In our organization, the WatchGuard firewall mostly serves as the main support in providing the service of hybrid work and the central protection point of our internal system. With its excellent Client VPN performance, it allows us much-needed flexibility in our work. Also, WatchGuard is where most of the control mechanisms and risk mitigation of digital business come from.
  • enabling the hybrid work
  • System protection
  • Network monitoring
  • Offline configuration
  • web user interface
  • firewall policy configuration
WatchGuard Network security is well suited in the client based VPN connectivity. They offer three types of VPNs: IKEv1 supported, IKEv2 and SSL. All three are supported in the most Windows and Mac OS versions, have great performance and they are the ideal solution for employees who frequently work remotely or require remote access to sensitive resources.

The use we make of WatchGuard is mainly as a perimeter defense in clients, partners and in our offices, it is a transparent service for the user who carries out his work efficiently, since we use it we have not had problems with cyber attacks or anything related, as soon as to its use as a vpn, it is the best I have used, its vpn system over ssl does not give problems with the internet connections of the employees, it always works.
  • Cibersecurity
  • Perimetral defense
  • VPN
  • detection and blocking of intruders in lan and wifi
  • on UTM 2-factor authentication is complicated to implement
  • has no integration with the defense of endpoint on UTM
  • renewal of services is expensive
  • device lifetime is short
As a perimeter defense it is excellent, if you have total security the cloud-based service is impressive, the detection of vulnerabilities and problems is practically 0 days, like vpn, if you have a high-end device, the vpn is fast, not so much if you use entry-level devices, the system works very well over the ssl port and does not cause problems.

We use WatchGuard as our primary firewall and utilize WatchGuard's Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) company-wide to secure our internal applications. We are also a Managed Service Provider and resell all of WatchGuard's products to our customers all over the country. WatchGuard uses Best-in-Breed vendors to provide top-tier services across their product line.
  • Next-Gen Firewall Services
  • Multi-Factor Authentication
  • Hardware Firewall Appliances
  • Wireless Access Points could use improvement
  • GUI could be updated
WatchGuard Firewall's are a great all around device with Best-in-Breed Services for ultimate protection. These appliances are well suited for business in the small to medium, as well as enterprise environments. The Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) is excellent and can be deployed in any environment. The great thing about the WatchGuard family of products is that they are independent of each other, meaning you can use the MFA with any firewall, not just a WatchGuard.
