Overall Satisfaction with 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office)

We use 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) to present a consistent contact structure across our company, with principals located in Toronto and Calgary, as well as during travel abroad.
  • Providing a "local" phone number for users who may not live/be in that local area for ongoing periods of time
  • Providing a mobile phone number so that users need not share their personal mobile phone numbers with clients
  • Automatic call recording is very practical/helpful/safe
  • Ability to listen to voicemail through bluetooth headphones/earbuds (so I can more easily take notes while it is playing or otherwise listen hands-free)
  • Ability to comment/chat internally about voicemail and call recordings among extensions/users
  • Ability to retrieve deleted voicemail and/or a confirmation prompt
  • Should provide more out-of-the-box quick configuring. 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) should have sufficient data to build profiles that match a respective client's use case and make setting up users much easier. It was quite arduous to set up the user extension profiles, given that we are a small group without a dedicated IT person who could have driven implementation to get us up and running.
  • Most of our competition are mom-and-pop operations using their personal mobile phones for work. 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) differentiates us as a larger, more substantial player in the space.
  • 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) streamlines our communication profile with our clients and enhances our marketing material.
  • 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) protects our personal information.
  • 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) helps us centralize our communications more professionally and manage communications information as a data asset of the company.
8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) seemed to present the optimal combination of cost, features, scalability to support our growth, track record, and positive reviews.

Do you think 8x8 Work delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with 8x8 Work's feature set?

Yes

Did 8x8 Work live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of 8x8 Work go as expected?

No

Would you buy 8x8 Work again?

Yes

I would assume that 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) shines more when there are physical phones installed in a physical office environment, from which mobile apps are an extension.

We chose 8x8 X Series (Formerly Virtual Office) with the view that, eventually, we'd grow from a fully remote operation to one with a centralized office and would want to elegantly scale to that environment with no interruption to our phone numbers from a client's perspective. However, in the meantime, in the wholly mobile environment, features I'd have expected to make mobile, remote communications slick are lacking. Setup is also rather technical and required quite a bit of focus and endurance on our side to click through to get things running for us. There are still a lot of features we haven't used (again, we're not all together in one physical office), so there is certainly more upside if the primary application is a physical office environment.
