Overall Satisfaction with Acronis Backup & Recovery
Acronis is used across the organization but it is used by the information technology department. We have over 300 PCs and many servers in different locations. We use it to create an image and deploy them as well as backup each machine. Many C level executives see IT as a cost center. So I think having a product that can cut costs is always a great idea. It addresses the never ending strain on IT's support time on machine issues caused by virus, malware or software issues. It helps defend the IT department in the cost center arena. Acronis is a robust product that is easy and simple to use.
- Hardware agnostic restore is huge. A lot of imaging and restore products have to be one for one on hardware. Acronis is great because it doesn't.
- Granular recovery of files like shadow copy so you don't have to restore a whole drive for one missing item. This has saved our bacon more than once.
- Deduplication really helped us save our storage (which we are limited on).
- Some of the setup is not intuitive.
- Updates for the software could be done in a better manner.
- Cloud storage restore is slow.
- We have saved lots of IT hours by re-imaging PCs this way.
- Recovery of files is much faster so we have saved production on the user end and IT time.
- Safety and the feeling of files being saved and easily being able to get them makes you feel secure. Can't put a price on that.
I think Acronis is better than Unitrends first because of one simple thing. Ease of use. Unitrends is a bear to use sometimes and getting one file can make you spend your whole day on it. Acronis is much more intuitive and easy to use when trying to locate a file or backup. It is quicker to do so as well.
