Overall Satisfaction with Adaptive Suite

Prior to my current role as Adaptive administrator I had never managed a planning system before. I joined the company 80% through the implementation and was somewhat apprehensive with the system administrator role. Fortunately I found Adaptive to be extremely intuitive and user friendly. In the rare situation where I need help, the customer support is excellent in terms of knowledge and response times.
Adaptive is used across the whole organization and helps us easily analyze previous performance and model future expenses. Prior to implementing Adaptive, the company was using Excel for budgeting and forecasting - this created issues with version control and consolidation. Using Adaptive has eliminated these issues. Adaptive also makes it easy to manage levels of user access.
  • Adaptive has very user friendly modeling features. It is easy to modify assumptions to adjust calculations for future performance.
  • One of Adaptive's strengths is the ability to easily clone models to test various forecast scenarios.
  • Adaptive interfaces well with Excel. It's very helpful that Adaptive reports can be downloaded into Excel templates.
  • Supporting detail sheets can become cumbersome over time due to empty rows and multiple rows of data due to prior years.
  • For P&L>Display Options>Version Comparison, it would be great if you could compare multiple years - right now you can only compare one year at a time - this is somewhat inconvenient
  • Adaptive has definitely accelerated the turn around time and accuracy for budgeting and forecast updates.
  • Adaptive has given us the flexibility to do constant forecast updates instead of prior quarterly updates before Adaptive.
  • Multiple scenario modeling capability has helped the company be more confident in thinking forward
Adaptive reporting capabilities have enabled us to provide timely and accurate feedback to all business partners. Since implementing Adaptive, business partner forecast participation has increased. Before Adaptive everything was based in Excel and it was very difficult to update monthly management reports. Adaptive reporting has also made the creation of board meeting presentations dramatically more efficient.
Adaptive has enabled us to expand our multiple scenario planning capabilities. Prior to Adaptive most of my time was spent updating the Excel model manually. Now there is real value add with Adaptive since we can update quickly and see trends easily. Adaptive has enabled business partners to become active and consistent contributors to the planning process versus the old model of participating in an annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
Adaptive was already being implemented when I joined the company, but we have heard that Anaplan has better capabilities but the cost is significantly higher.
Adaptive is a superior planning tool for small to medium sized companies. Adaptive is most effective when the model is populated with accurate assumptions. Where Adaptive is less appropriate is complex revenue forecasting. My company currently uses offline models for revenue forecasting due to multiple revenue streams and rapidly changing assumptions.
