Overall Satisfaction with Amazon DynamoDB

We were building Amazon Alexa Game in which we used the DynamoDB for storing the user's data and leaderboard. Integration of Amazon DynamoDB was very smooth, there are pre-built examples are available and due to it is NoSQL, we can store any type of data without generation of the schema.
  • It is NoSQL so storing data with very smooth
  • Integration of it is very smooth
  • It is Serverless so execution of it is very fast
  • Integration of it apart from Amazon ecosystem is a bit hard
  • Due to it is NoSQL, you can perform join and other operations
  • Limited Storage option
  • Development time is very much reduced
  • DevOps and other maintenance is very less required
  • Serverless so automatically available upon needed and charged for that only
It is very useful feature of DynamoDB. Let's consider today we are having x number of users and that increases by n number and if we go traditional method then there might be possibility our existing DB methodology can't handle that number of users while it is very smooth and due to it is Serverless, we don't need to do it and our time is saved.
It works very well across all the regions and response time is also very quick due to AWS's internal data transfer. Plus if your product requires HIPPA or some other regulations needs to be followed, you can easily replicate the DB into multiple regions and they manage all by it's own.
Other all SQL Databases are based on the traditional Schema Structure and Amazon DynamoDB is NoSQL so you don't need to generate the SQL Schemas. You can store the data whatever you want, whenever you want. You can store data in structured or non-structured any way you want. If you feel in near future you need to add any one more data point, it is very easy in NoSQL.

Do you think Amazon DynamoDB delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Amazon DynamoDB's feature set?

Yes

Did Amazon DynamoDB live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Amazon DynamoDB go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Amazon DynamoDB again?

Yes

It is useful use-case by use-case. For our use case, it was the best and easiest option for the integration as well as development side. It is serverless so no need of deployment and maintenance hustle. It is easy to scale up due to the same functionality. Supports AWS Security features and just a click away for enabling it so security is good.
