Overall Satisfaction with Articulate 360

We use Articulate 360 pretty much every day at 4pt. It enables us to deliver well-designed eLearning solutions to our customers. For complex interactions we use Storyline, where we can really flex our creativity and build engaging learning interactions. When the content is more simple, or where budget is more of a consideration, we use Rise. Rise allows us to turn around projects more quickly.
  • Industry standard software with fantastic community support.
  • Suitable for creating both complex and simple interactions.
  • Widely used, so provides peace of mind to our customers, giving them the security that they can easily find another vendor should they wish.
  • I'd like to see improved global styling options in Rise. For example, changing font size and colour across an entire module would be a massive time-saver.
  • Reverse page transitions would be a nice to have addition to Storyline. For example, if a user clicks to view the previous slide, the transition would animate to look as though the page was moving back, instead of forward.
  • The addition of a fully customisable colour palette that carries through globally to Rise would be welcomed.
  • SCORM-compliant publishing options
  • Multi-device compatible output
  • Flexibility to enable creation of creative learning solutions
  • Articulate 360 is our primary eLearning authoring tool at the moment. Meaning we have not had to invest in any other tools recently.
  • The amount of business we gain through using Articulate 360 significantly outweighs the cost.
  • Articulate 360 enables us to reach overseas markets due to its localisation features.
I have worked extensively in Adobe Captivate and found it to be much more of a challenge than Articulate 360. The learning curve is greater in Captivate and I found that far more steps and workarounds were required to create comparable interactions than in Articulate products. I would not recommend Captivate for the casual user.

Do you think Articulate 360 delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Articulate 360's feature set?

Yes

Did Articulate 360 live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Articulate 360 go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Articulate 360 again?

Yes

I'd highly recommend Articulate 360 products to anyone looking to develop eLearning content. It is suitable for relative beginners but is powerful enough for professional users to create very engaging interactions. Articulate 360 can be used to create learning materials with a wide reach. THis reach was beneficial to organisations during the pandemic, and is still being leveraged now as companies opt for a blended learning approach to their solutions.

Articulate 360 Feature Ratings

Using Articulate 360

2 - Elearning designers and developers
  • Product launch training in Pharmacutical industry for sales team
  • Certified Nurse Assistant training programme
  • Creation of creative demos to showcase products and services
  • Creation of sales demos
  • 360 degree rotations of packaging to allow people to explore the product labels
  • Creation of a virtual hospital
  • Integrate chatbots in to courses
  • Create branching scenarios simulating interview process
  • Interactive videos
Articulate 360 is an essential tool in our organisation's workflow. The money that we make through its use, far outweighs the cost of renewing our licenses. Articulate 360 has exposed us to new clients that we may not have otherwise encountered if we did not subscribe to the Articulate services.

Evaluating Articulate 360 and Competitors

Yes - Previously, we used to use Adobe Flash, which became obsolete, leaving a gap in our offering. We also used Adobe Captivate, but the time required to produce even basic interactions meant that it wasn't a viable solution, due to the pace at which we're required to work for our clients.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The most important factor in our decision to purchase Articulate 360, was that it publishes to the versions of SCORM that our clients insist upon. Without this feature, our clients would not be able to deploy their learning materials via their learning management systems, which is how they reach their global audiences.
If we were evaluating and selecting elearning authoring tools again, factors I would consider more would be how easy it is to localise learning materials, and how the workflow fits in with translation services. Also, how easy it is to recreate elaborate designs using the native feature set of the software, vs what needs to be created in thrid party software.

Articulate 360 Implementation

Ensuring that multiple users control the versions they're working on is important, as you cannot check Storyline files in and out.

Articulate 360 Support

I have always found the support of staff and the wider Articulate community to be excellent. Staff are active on forums and on the occasions I have submitted a ticket the technical support team have endeavored to help me out in a timely manner. The community support is unparalleled, with a very active user cohort who are always willing to share their advice.

I did not purchase premium support. Because I am a heavy user of the software, I did not think it would provide any value to me or my organisation. Many of the problems I am likely to face when using Articulate software, can be resolved with the help of the community forums.
Yes - Yes, I have reported bugs on more than one occasion. Whenever I have reported a bug, it has been investigated and if it is a genuine bug, the software engineers have worked quickly to resolve it. Reporting bugs is easy and you always seem to get a reply from the support team.
There was a new feature set released for Articulate Rise 360 recently. When the features were added to Rise, they had some unwanted effects on existing courses that users had created previously. When the bugs were reported, I was listened to and the features were modified the same day to remove the unwanted effects.

Using Articulate 360

Overall I can't fault Articulate 360. Sure, there are always enhancements that an individual user would like to see introduced, but generally speaking the usability is second to none. Articulate 360 offers something for users of all levels. It can be friendly enough not to turn off novices, but has enough about it to keep the professional coming back for more.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Well integrated

  • Creating drag and drop interactions
  • Creating multiple choice quizzes
  • Publishing to web or SCORM formats
  • Selecting custom colours is difficult in Rise 360
  • Localistions in Rise 360 are made more difficult by needing to export multiple xliff files, rather than a single xliff file from your master course.
