Overall Satisfaction with Bigcommerce

I use it to help small businesses start an e-commerce business. I also use it for a side business I run myself.
  • intuitive control panel/back-end
  • easy to customize design
  • good technical support expertise and availability
  • better communication of upgrades, what's included and how they might affect existing stores
  • quicker fixing of bugs and needed improvements to basic features
  • less focus on design and trying to be like shopify
  • most of my clients see better organic results after switching and new stores tend to get indexed and start generating organic traffic within a week
  • usually reduces time spent by store managers managing their stores
  • new plan pricing will have a negative impact on some of my clients' stores
  • Shopify,Volusion,Magento,Miva Merchant
More flexible and less expensive than other hosted e-commerce platforms
Not the greatest for stores with dozens or hundreds of categories, as they cannot be bulk imported and setting them up takes a long time. Adding meta content for categories is also very time-consuming.

It's quite good right now, but the new interface they are rolling out is terribly unusable. All of the menus are hidden behind vague icons and it's nearly impossible to find anything. Hopefully they will rethink the new control panel design, scrap it and keep what they have now.
