Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

It is used across the whole organization for a variety of solutions such as financial close, account reconciliations, and the task manager. Some more niche features used by select members include recurring entries using the journal master feature with auto-certify and the matching tool for account reconciliations that helps streamline recs.

  • Communication with SAP needs improvement.
  • Can be weird to navigate with sometimes.
  • Much quicker close (day and a half).
  • Account recs done in fractions of the time with matching.
  • Getting geared up for next months close is easier to prepare for.

The interface is quick and easy to learn. Its easy to navigate between months, though the refresh feature of the journal entry and account rec menus can be annoying sometimes if you do not constantly save after each change. Sometimes navigating between two financial periods can be sort of like a gymnastics act.
I haven't had much discourse with BlackLine support but my limited experience with them has been great and has not deterred me from wanting to use their products. I do feel though that the individuals demonstrating the product should sometimes be more versed in their own product before trying to display it for potential customers.
BlackLine would be well suited for a company that features a financial close process that is diverse and in some ways complex with many moving parts. I think its less suited for companies which may have a simpler close process or a company structure that does not necessarily need the level of connection BlackLine provides.
