Overall Satisfaction with BlueJeans

We use BlueJeans company-wide to take meetings internally with other employees and externally with clients/vendors/etc. We are a globally distributed company with offices in 7 countries across the US, EMEA, and APJ. It's great for being able to easily connect users worldwide to communicate with each other. It excels at allowing users to connect from a variety of different endpoints: laptops, iOS, Android devices, conference rooms, and calling in via phone, etc.

Pros

  • Allows users to connect from multiple different endpoints seamlessly. They can join from their laptop (app or browser without installing anything), smartphone, a conference room, call in for audio from any phone, etc.
  • An easier to use interface than many competitors. It's not overloaded with cruft or confusing options, making it easier to get connected and meeting with others quickly.
  • A focus on end-user features that are requested. Over the years, they have consistently added features that have been requested.

Cons

  • Minor quality lag behind competitors. Users who use both BlueJeans and Zoom will often speak of the quality of Zoom calls being higher.
  • Still missing some secondary features that other competitors have. Things like private chat, multiple screen sharing and control, and breakout "rooms" aren't currently existing.
  • Less wasted time in meetings setting up video conferencing calls. With our video conferencing system, we'd routinely have to spend 5-10 minutes at the beginning of any meeting getting connected or troubleshooting. We can now join a BlueJeans meeting within 30 seconds and be ready to go.
  • Employees are able to focus on work and not be distracted by poor video conferencing. With so many employees meeting from all over the globe, BlueJeans makes it much easier to just get connected and start working, not being blocked on real-time communication is great.
Of all the options we've considered, BlueJeans is by far the easiest to use and most compatible with the largest variety of endpoints. Both of these items were important to us in that our employees tend to connect many different ways and we wanted them all to be accessible easily. Zoom is probably the closest competitor in terms of what we were looking for, but their user interface is not nearly as intuitive and they do not easily support connecting with different endpoints.
Joining a meeting is extremely easy, especially if you configure your calendar and BlueJeans application to connect together. You'll see a list of all your upcoming meetings, and all you have to do is click the meeting to join. It's super simple. In a meeting, controls are pretty easy to find, and once you know where they are, they are very easy to recall.
BlueJeans works great when I use it internally with other employees. I've experienced issues when I try to connect with external clients whose IT either blocks users from installing applications or just flat out tell users to not use other video conferencing platforms other than their own. In those cases, you're better of joining the client's video call.
