Overall Satisfaction with Box
The whole organization uses Box for centralized filesharing of everything from technical specs, customer deliveries, files provided by customers, application assets, and all the way to business development plans and internal business documents. Box helps us to have a convenient, single point of storage for anything we might need, as well as to create a simple hierarchy where we can access company assets at a glance. Its UI allows us to easily locate as well as store all the files we need.
- The Box UI is very easy to use. I personally like to sort by Recent, where I am able to easily view the folders for currently-open projects.
- Box makes it easy to share files with those outside of the organization, so we use it for customer deliveries.
- The Box access-control model is quite good and makes it easy to have tiers of access control to files.
- Box has a bubbly UI that doesn't seem as serious, sleek, or "cool" as it could be.
- Sometimes I have to perform extra clicks when I want to just have a single button, like sharing a link to a file with someone outside the organization.
- Box is locked into the classic file explorer method of file management. I would prefer the option of alternate views such as tag-based file management as well.
- Box has been affordable and useful for keeping our files safe, secure, backed up in case of data loss, and well-organized. It has helped us reach business goals of retaining vital customer information as well as keeping business records and back-ups of all customer deliveries.
- Box has allowed us to easily send files to customers, which assists our business goal of keeping a low overhead for customer interactions, so we can send even small updates without going through a laborious delivery process.
We use Dropbox and Drive as well. However, Box has become our go-to and the canonical standard that we use almost exclusively at this point. We simply use Dropbox and Drive because some customers prefer it, and we like to have the flexibility to meet client needs and use their preferred platform. We prefer Box, though, since it has historically been targeted at businesses rather than consumers. We also like the pricing model. Dropbox and Drive are both fine, but Box is our first choice for a business storage solution.
