Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce
Dayforce is being used across our entire company - 270 franchise locations across Canada and the US as well as our head office/support centre. The large number of jurisdictions we operate in and a high rate of employee turn over at the restaurant level create some unique challenges for HR and payroll management.
Pros
- Integration of Payroll and HR functions. A smooth flow of (accurate) information between these two functions drastically reduces payroll errors.
- Payroll in general. The continuous calculation of payroll allows our team to see exactly where we are with payroll and the impacts of any changes or updates as they take place.
- Support. Both from an account and technical perspective. Ceridian support teams appear to be knowledgable, responsive and take the time and effort to learn about our business and particular Dayforce configuration. We don't need to spend time explaining how our deployment is different from others when requesting support.
Cons
- Surveys - Ceridian has indicated that the ability to generate and report on enagement surveys will be provided in furture releases, it isn't there yet...
- Has allowed us to reduce the size of our payroll team by 1 FTE despite significant growth over the past year
- Significant reduction in payroll errors or late payroll due to last minute changes
- Time savings for our in store staff in completing HR tasks such as onboarding and record updates
Our previous system was highly manual - changes in policies or local labour regulations required custom updates from our software vendor. With Dayforce, many of these changes are automatically accounted for and implemented in the system or we are able to configure them ourselves.
This feature has streamlined our process - allowing us to select and onboard new employees quickly as well as avoiding many common errors that occur with multiple record systems (mismatched records due to typos, re-hiring employees who have been let go from a previous location etc.)
For compensation, mass changes are much simpler. Changes to things like minimum wage can be rapidly effected for large numbers of employees across multiple operating companies.

- Fewer payroll errors or the necessity to re-run payroll.
- Changes are reflected in all systems - records only need to be updated once in one place and there are no 'translation errors' between different systems & databases.
- Simple support - do not get passed around between various support groups in trying to find the 'expert' for each module...
