Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MX

Cisco Meraki MX is generally used by companies that have basic needs on service edge. It's basically used in cases where it's needed to have a router with some basic securtity rules. In my opinion, Cisco Meraki MX is not a real firewall, seen that it lacks of many features to be called a firewall
  • routing
  • integration with cisco products
  • GUI
  • security policies
  • NAT
  • objects

Would you buy Cisco Meraki MX again?

No

  • simple GUI
  • integration with existing tools
  • easy installation
Cisco Meraki MX could be programmed from cloud console and then, on the appliance, you need only to configure internet access. The appliance will automatically downloads its configuration and will be ready to use within some minutes. The managment is also more ergonomic and easier than other cisco firewall products like ASA or Firepower
cisso umbrella can be used with Cisco Meraki MX to proxify all guest users to umbrella proxy. this integration is native and could also be done with Cisco Meraki MX that handle layer 2 switching on the network where guests will connect.the benefit is basically the native integration between these two products
scalability is guaranteed by Cisco Meraki MX because , once the configuration is in place , you can easly add new sites and integrate them to the automated VPN by simply adding them from the cloud console.the appliances then should only be sent to the distant sites and installed on an ZTP deployment.
cisco ASA is a legacy firewalla that is very outdated.despite it's aN NGFW with advanced security features, we decided to use meraki because of the ease of use and the need of scalability. in these two criteria, ASA is very weak, so we dicided to try the meraki mx product because we did not know the product before
Cisco Meraki MX is well suited for small companies that do not need advanced security features.Cisco Meraki MX is well suited for companies that rely a lot on cisco products and has integration needs. Cisco Meraki MX is less appropriate for companies that needs an NGFW or companies that need to have advanced policy rules.
