Overall Satisfaction with GitLab
Started working with GitLab since 2017 to solve the deployment and regular build related issues. Git help us to automate Deployment with Less build error. Earlier we're using SVN and every time Deployment was taking too much time.
- Helped to automate build with 0 versioning related issue
- Helped in continuous Development and build
- More control on MR with User control
- We can control who can merge and when to automate build
- Facing issues with Conflict resolving
- More control on branch merge
- Show info regarding from where branch was created while reviewing
- Saved lots of Development time
- now we can release feature N number of time
- Production stability is in control
Git has a Distributed Model. SVN has a Centralized Model. In git every user has their own copy of code on their local like their own branch. In SVN there is central repository has working copy that also make changes and committed in central repository
We're using self-hosted GitLab right now. Now we can easily share code with Lead to validate/review which help us to reduced issues
