GoTo Meeting Helped Us Tremendously at the Outset of the Pandemic

Overall Satisfaction with GoTo Meeting

When the pandemic hit, we had two needs: continue the education of our students, and collaborate on the paths we were going to take given the closures. While Zoom was the best fit for the student aspect, GoTo Meeting gave us more flexibility on the teacher/administration side. The meetings themselves were focused on internal activities with the school. For one, we needed to have spur of the moment discussions on what policies to enact when we returned. We had Zooms for the classrooms, but having our own platform made it easier to log in without the confusion of multiple accounts. It really became the backend virtual meeting tool for us!
  • Ability to share documents in real time
  • Ability to control a user's screen
  • Larger meetings without the extra cost
  • Accessible
  • Only as reliable as the user's connection
  • I do get marketing emails that are not very relevant for us -- that could be attributed to a need for better lead segmentation
  • It helped us maintain a sense of order when the pandemic caused us to shut down for several months.
  • It gave IT the ability to meet with people and address issues on devices in the meeting itself rather than going through them individually.
  • Ability to share documents prevented multiple copies from circulating.
  • Zoom was just the popular option, but GoTo Meeting had everything from the get-go.
GoTo Meeting was more reliable because they had the features in place already and didn't employ a questionable method of forcing people to pay more to use anything (like Zoom). I needed a program that could be used by those who didn't KNOW these kinds of programs. Zoom had a lot of features, but they took advantage of everyone during the start of the pandemic -- luring by offering free features they knew you would get used to and then charging you a bunch once they could. GoTo Meeting didn't do that. They remained a reliable platform that wasn't out to gouge you. Again, it wasn't for the students in our organization, just admin, so I can't speak to that part. But for admin services where you simply need to collaborate in a virtual environment and give everyone the chance to contribute without fear of technological overload, this is your safest bet.

Yes

Did GoTo Meeting live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of GoTo Meeting go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy GoTo Meeting again?

Yes

GoTo Meeting had the offerings of Zoom before Zoom had them and didn't charge outlandishly. It is great for teams who need to collaborate and need to be able to meet at a moment's notice without having to worry about conflicts of program or technology. It is less appropriate when you can just pick up the phone and talk to someone, as you won't be using the tools available, and it essentially becomes a regular conference program. If you have a lot of employees in your company and maybe 60% of them aren't comfortable with technology, then this program will work better for them than Zoom. It is more user-friendly for the person logging in. It would not be suited for online teaching of students, though -- this is a collaboration tool; you would be using a racecar to get to the end of the driveway.
