Overall Satisfaction with Image Relay

We use image Relay to help graphic designers, communicators, and marketers find images to include in their print and digital materials to promote the university. The ability to browse through topics, or search by keyword, help users find what they need. From there users can use the filters to narrow search results to horizontal, vertical, and even by dominant color scheme. This saves graphic designers a lot of time.
  • Image searches
  • Sharing collections
  • Download speed
  • Search results speed
  • SSO user set up
  • Collection permissions
  • Making it clear that a user is successfully set up with an account
  • Much improvement over searching through subject folders on Box
  • Time saved, by graphic designers, translates to dollars saved
  • Collaborating on images helps avoid time wasted trying to keep track of who has seen which images.
  • Improving the breadth of marketing imagery used to tell UT's story
I created a rubric to compare IR with Intelligence Bank and PhotoShelter. Some of the comparisons were close, but ultimately the intuitive user interface, price, and back-end programming (as analyzed by our web guy) helped us select Image Relay.
It is user-friendly and anyone who has ever been on a stock photo site can navigate through searches and browsing with little to no direction.
Our rep, James Fox, is very responsive. I only gave a 9, instead of a 10, due to a recent experience where I had an internal client that had trouble and was in a bind for time. I used the help chat and it was not very quickly resolved.

Well-suited: A graphic designer is looking for a photo of students at the Dell Medical School doing research. Keyword searches such as students, Dell, research would yield optimal results and get the user what they need. Could use improvement: I've set up a new user after being contacted with the request. The user appears to be set up with an SSO account, but later they contact me saying their login attempt failed. I cannot find them by searching the Active Users and am left to troubleshoot why it did not take.
