Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Pro

We use Jamf Pro to manage all the Macs and some iOS devices in our organization. We are located in one primary campus, but have regional staff across the United States and a few internationally.

Jamf Pro allows us to maintain consistent security standards across all our devices, as well as provide the support and maintenance our users need. This is largely transparent to the user, most of the time they don't even know it is there. When they do need to interact with Jamf Pro, it is a very simple and intuitive process that we can brand and customize for our users.
  • Self-service allows our users to install software we have vetted and provide one click installation.
  • We can buy licenses for Apple App Store software and push the software out to our users automatically. We now own the license and can easily transfer it to other users.
  • Updating software like Office 2016 is now very simple. Admin access is not needed and we can force critical updates, or allow the user to defer non-critical updates for a custom period of time.
  • Installing printers used to be a challenge and time-consuming process. Now they are in self-service and users can add printers with one click. We can even show/hide printers based on user location and iBeacons.
  • The management portal aka JSS needs a fresh user interface. It is highly functional, but not user-friendly. However this only impacts admins, users do not see this.
  • Self service is very good, but the user interface and UX can improve. Version 10 is due soon and fixes this.
  • Patch management, aka software updates, while much easier than doing it manually, is still a bit complicated to set up and manage. Version 10 will also address this.
  • We have reduced IT costs. We do not need to spend as many man hours supporting our Macs.
  • User morale is actually up. They are able to use the latest software and don't have to bother with IT support or tedious support tickets.
  • User productivity is up. Our staff get more done vs spend time dealing with software updates and IT support tickets.
Jamf Pro far surpsasses both. We have used these others and they don't work very well for Macs. It isn't even close how much better Jamf Pro is. AEM has very little MacOS functionality. Kaseya has more, but the UI and other aspects of it are very lacking. Nothing else comes close to Jamf Pro. The integration with Apple is second to none and sets it far ahead.
It may not be the best solution for small offices or BYOD (bring your own device) environments. For that, look at Jamf Now. However if you have many devices to manage Jamf Pro is well suited. If you have a distributed team and need a way to buy a computer and have it delivered to them, then configured with your company's IT requirements, Jamf Pro's "Zero touch" workflow is simply amazing and nothing else compares.
